Raven Oak is the author of the Amazon bestselling fantasy novel Amaskan’s Blood and the upcoming space operas, Class-M Exile and The Eldest Silence. She began her career as many authors do–with the lofty goal of becoming the next Anne McCaffrey, Connie Willis, or Neil Gaiman. At the age of twelve, she took her first steps into novel writing by penning a 320 page novel about dragons with all the drama of a typical twelve-year-old. She studied English literature and music in college, and in 2001, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of North Texas. She later completed her Master of Science Degree in CECS from UNT in 2005. After twelve years in the classroom as a computer and English teacher, she retired from education to pursue writing full-time.

When she’s not writing, she’s getting her game on with tabletop games, indulging in cartography, or staring at the ocean. Raven is currently at work on Amaskan’s War and The Eldest Traitor. She is a member of the local Seattle writing groups Ladies of the Write andWayward Writers, as well as the Northwest Science Fiction Society and PNWA. She was an established member of the now defunct Magnolia Chapter One writing group. Raven is married to her gamer husband, who is a game engineer/software developer. They have three kitties who enjoy lounging across the keyboard when writing deadlines approach. They live on a cliff in Seattle, WA, less than mile from the ocean.

Tonight we discuss a movie that is often overlooked when it comes to the greatest science-fiction movie lists. We are discussing Back to the Future II. We talk about some of the technical aspects of the movie, but also delve into some of the most memorable performances, scenes, and some of our favorite quotes. We also discuss what it got right and what it got wrong. We would love to hear your thoughts about this movie.

Marty McFly has only just gotten back from the past, when he is once again picked up by Dr. Emmett Brown and sent through time to the future. Marty’s job in the future is to pose as his own son to prevent him from being thrown in prison. Unfortunately, things get worse when the future changes the present.

This is the story of Captain Pike when he first takes command of the Enterprise and his first mission aboard her. And with your help, it will lead into a Captain Pike Web Series.

Christopher Pike is the Captain seen in the original Star Trek Pilot “The Cage”, played by Jeffrey Hunter. He was Captain of the Enterprise before Captain Kirk. And his story has never been told in film, until now.

In the original Star Trek Pilot, “The Cage”, set in the year 2254. Captain Pike and his crew are returning from Rigel VII, where several members of the landing party were killed by the inhabitants.

The incident filled Pike with so much guilt that he is considering resigning his commission. But that’s all we know about Captain Pike, and we want to know so much more. Don’t you?

This is an independent film project that will be helmed by professionals who all work in the entertainment industry. From cast and crew to writers, director, producers and actors.

THE LEAD CAST OF “CAPTAIN PIKE”

In our film, we will answer these questions about Captain Pike:

1. What happened on Pike’s first mission with his female first officer, and his science officer, Mr. Spock?

2. Did Pike ever go into battle?

3. Which alien race did he encounter before any other Starfleet Captains? We know Captain Pike’s father is Admiral Josh Pike, but we never learned about the Admiral and which starship he commanded.

We never learned about many of the federation Captains that we saw in Star Trek TOS or their descendants.

In this film, we’ll answer all the questions you’ve always wondered about. And you’ll see many famous Starfleet officers at the beginning of their illustrious careers.

Timothy Zahn

Zahn’s novella Cascade Point won the 1984 Hugo Award. He is the author of the Blackcollar trilogy and the Cobra series (seven novels so far), ten Star Wars Expanded Universe novels, including seven novels featuring Grand Admiral Thrawn: the Thrawn Trilogy, the Hand of Thrawn duology, Outbound Flight, and Choices of One. LucasFilm at times referred to some of the more detailed Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game supplements from West End Games, and when Timothy Zahn started work on a new trilogy of Star Wars books, boxes of West End sourcebooks were delivered to him. At the time, Zahn was writing what would become known as the “Thrawn Trilogy”, the first book of which was Heir to the Empire (1991). In turn, West End released sourcebooks for Zahn’s three novels from 1992-1994. The Thrawn trilogy marked a revival in the fortunes of the Star Wars franchise, bringing it widespread attention for the first time in years; all three Thrawn-trilogy novels made the New York Times best-seller lists,[3] and set the stage and tone for most of the franchise’s Expanded-Universe content. Zahn also wrote the young adult Dragonback series and the popular Conquerors’ Trilogy.

When Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) jump-starts a dormant peacekeeping program, things go terribly awry, forcing him, Thor (Chris Hemsworth), the Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and the rest of the Avengers to reassemble. As the fate of Earth hangs in the balance, the team is put to the ultimate test as they battle Ultron, a technological terror hell-bent on human extinction. Along the way, they encounter two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Pietro and Wanda Maximoff.

Tim Russ

Timothy Darrell Russ was born on June 22, 1956, in Washington, D.C., to Air Force officer Walt and his wife Josephine. He and his younger siblings Michael and Angela grew up on several military bases, including Niagara Falls, Elmendorf (Alaska) AFB, Omaha, Taiwan, Philippines and Turkey. During these moves around the world, he graduated from Izmir High School in Turkey, and received his diploma from Rome Free Academy in Rome, New York. Afterwards he attended Saint Edwards University and earned a B.S. in Theater Arts but continued his studies with a full scholarship to continue theater studies at Illinois State University. His first professional job came while he was at St. Edward’s University in Austin, when he appeared in a PBS Masterpiece Theater production, but he started to pursue acting full time in 1985. During that time he’s been on many TV shows and movies – including The Twilight Zone (1985), Amazing Stories (1985), Thirtysomething (1987),Jake and the Fatman (1987), 21 Jump Street (1987), Beauty and the Beast (1987), The People Next Door (1989), Mancuso, FBI (1989), Family Matters (1989), The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (1990), Tequila and Bonetti (1992), SeaQuest 2032 (1993), Dark Justice(1991), Murphy Brown (1988), Monty (1994), Star Trek: Voyager (1995), Melrose Place(1992), Any Day Now (1998), The Highwayman (1987), Star Trek: The Next Generation(1987) and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993), among others.

Along with his television experience he has also played in a variety of films, includingCrossroads (1986), Fire with Fire (1986), Timestalkers (1987), Spaceballs (1987), Death Wish 4: The Crackdown (1987), Pulse (1988), Bird (1988), Roots: The Gift (1988), Eve of Destruction (1991), Dead Silence (1997), Night Eyes II (1991), Mr. Saturday Night(1992), Star Trek: Generations (1994), Dead Connection (1994), East of Hope Street(1998). During his comprehensive acting career he appeared in numerous theatrical productions including “Romeo & Juliet”, “Barrabas”, “Dream Girls”, “As You Like It”, “Twelfth Night”, “Cave Dwellers” among others. When not acting, Russ finds time for music and film producing. Songs sung by Tim Russ are available on the CDs “Only a Dream in Rio”, “Tim Russ”, “Kushangaza” and “Brave New World”. He lives in the area of Los Angeles where his whole family resides.

SciFi Rewind: Back to the Future

Tonight we discuss a movie that is often overlooked when it comes to the greatest science-fiction movie lists. We are discussing Back to the Future. We talk about some of the technical aspects of the movie, but also delve into some of the most memorable performances, scenes, and some of our favorite quotes. We would love to hear your thoughts about this movie.

Back to the Future is a 1985 American comic science fiction film. It was directed by Robert Zemeckis, written by Zemeckis and Bob Gale, produced by Steven Spielberg, and stars Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, Crispin Glover and Thomas F. Wilson. Fox plays Marty McFly, a teenager who is sent back in time to 1955. He meets his future parents in high school and accidentally becomes his mother’s romantic interest. Marty must repair the damage to history by causing his parents-to-be to fall in love, and with the help of scientist Dr. Emmett “Doc” Brown (Christopher Lloyd), he must find a way to return to 1985.
