Tonight's Menu:

We are looking for those of you who are interested in becoming SciFi Diner Correspondents for the SciFi Diner Podcast. We are looking for people who can give us Science Fiction Convention reports, do interviews, and give us book and movie reviews. The perks of this is that we can get you into conventions as press and that means in many cases free. Once the form has been filled out, give us a week to look over it. We’ll have a code of Con-duct (spelling intentional) we’ll need you to agree to since you’ll be representing the Diner. It’s not too strenuous. And we’ll probably want to chat with you too. We look forward to having you on board. – See more at: http://scifidinerpodcast.com/correspondents/#sthash.Wl79gwYy.dpuf

After receiving strange orders from superiors to keep away from HG World, McInnes and Grant turn their attention to the Happy Valley Militia, a quasi-military government reaching out from north-central Pennsylvania to control large sections of the state. As the public begins turning to these groups for help in the absence of a central government, rumors circulate of the mysterious "Generals" and their carnival-styled camps popping up in the western part of the state. Inside and under cover, Grant and McInnes find every kind of excess imaginable. Everything is for sale or trade. But what's beneath the surface?

I am Clay Dugger, The Podcast Cowboy, and I want to welcome you to the second episode of Watching the Skies:From “Who Goes There?” to “The Thing”.

This five episode mini-series will explore “Who Goes There?”, the wonderful story by John W. Campbell, Jr., and all the great entertainment that it has spawned

In this episode, I am joined by my good friend Paul K. Bisson. He and I discuss the classic 1951 movie, “The Thing from Another World”. This is one of the first “space monster come to Earth” flicks that ruled the 1950’s.

Paul K. Bisson is the narrative voice of The Food Network’s “Restaurant Stakeout”. He has also been interviewed for the Time-Life “Six Million Dollar Man - The Complete Collection” DVD set.

Paul is the co-creator of “Cyborgs: A Bionic Podcast”, found on The Chronic Rift Network.

You can find Paul over at www.bionicfans.net and www.abionicpodcast.com.

The podcast I have with my wife, “This and That with Him and Her (and sometimes It)”, can be found on the Chronic Rift Network. Go to http://chronicrift.com.

You can find my audio adaptation of “Who Goes There?” at http://mustbenicestudios.podomatic.com.

For a poor kid growing up in Boston (where there wasn't much to do except watch TV or go outside and find trouble), they were doorways into the worlds of science fiction, fantasy, horror, and comics. And they remain the cornerstones of Paul K. Bisson's inner Fanboy.

Today, Paul is an actor, writer, independent media producer, and all-around Geek. He still collects comics (mostly DC and definitely Wonder Woman), he founded the member-rich Bionic Fan Network (http://www.bionicfans.net) and an ambitious online Bionic encyclopedia, The Bionic Wiki (http://www.bionic.wikia.com), he's the webmaster of The Omen Chronicles, the only fansite devoted to the Omen film series (http://www.omenchronicles.com), and he's co-host and co-producer on Cyborgs: A Bionic Podcast, (http://www.abionicpodcast.com) a mostly twice a month podcast looking at each and every episode of The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman.

It's double your pleasure, double your fun as The Weekly Podioplex offers two weeks worth of movie and DVD release offerings.  First up though, it might be a new address, but enough people found 22 Jump Street to make it the number one movie at the box office this weekend.  But will the next two weeks of release offerings make it a one week hit wonder?  Michael Falkner has this and more on a new The Weekly Podioplex.

The Batcave Podcast has just completed its look at the first season of the 1966 Batman television series.  Over the course of the first 17 episodes, the podcast has taken shape into something John hopes everyone enjoys.  But there was a different format John considered before going ahead with the show you are listening to today.  He tried out this format by sitting down with author Dayton Ward and the two recorded a commentary on the first episode of the series.  Here is the first part, edited in its entirety for your listenening pleasure.  Stay tuned, Batfans.  Next week, we're looking at the 1966 theatrical release.

TheRiddler has plans for Batman in the form of a lawsuit claiming false arrest, but Batman knows the Riddler is not as innocent as he seems. Can Batman deduce the Riddler's scheme from the puzzles he's hidden inside the lawsuit?  Can he figure out that Robin isn't Robin?  And can we find all the ideas that would be repeated throughout the series that first led to its success and would ultimately lead to its downfall?

Comment on the episode here or write batcavepodcast@gmail.com.

Dayton Ward is the author of numerous media tie-in fiction works in such realms as Star Trek and The 4400.  He is also the author of such original works as Counterstrike, The Last World War, Book 2 and The Genesis Protocol. When he's not writing or working for a software design firm, he's busy indoctrinating his two lovely daughters into the worlds that have so seriously warped his mind.

The Chronic Rift Network is thrilled to be able to have the comedy stylings of Dan Lackaye and Travis Searle on our network. The voyage of radio genius continues with a new episode.  Starting out as The Pirate Ship in the 90s, the boys charted the rough waters of the early days of the Internet and managed to deliver comedy gold week after week.  They were one of the inspirations for The Chronic Rift becoming a podcast.  Last fall, Dan & Travis reunited with a new podcast, bringing back many of the elements of the original Pirate Ship, and John has been on their case to join the network ever since.

Handsome Timmy Davis fills in for Travis this week and speculates on how Travis is living as a married man.  The two discuss the sad, late mourning of the late Rue McClanahan.  There's also news from Tim and some archival material from the Pirate Ship days.  It's a new Dan & Travis Show.Check out all the fun of past episode by visiting them on the web.

It’s back to Roarton and IN THE FLESH, the BBC3/BBC America zombie…excuse us, PDS sufferers…television series created and written by Dominic Mitchell! We’re almost at the end of Series 2, and a lot has happened since we last looked in on Kieren Walker, Amy Dyer, and the rest of the gang. This time we catch up on episodes 2-5 just in time for what is sure to be a powerful finale, but is life – and death – getting any better for the residents of Roarton? Is a Second Rising looming in their future, and can it only happen if the First Risen faces his or her eternal doom? Can happiness and harmony be found in a new world where old fears and prejudices – not to mention new ones – have risen along with the “Redeemed?” And perhaps most importantly, can a zombie evolve and even find true love?

Show Music: “Bitter Pill” (feat. Vosmoy) by Still Pluto.

Join THIS AND THAT WITH HIM AND HER host Clay Dugger as he explores our fascination with the unknown as explored from the novella "Who Goes There?" by John Campbell to the movie versions known as THE THING.  This five episode mini-series begins with a discussion of the story that started it all.  In August of 1938, Astounding Science-Fiction published John Campell's novella, "Who Goes There?"  A group of researchers in Antarctica locate a spaceship that has been embedded in the ice for 20 million years.  They recover the alien pilot and the story unfolds from there.

Each episode of the podcast will feature a different guest host to look at a different aspect of this growing phenomenon. Joining Clay for the first podcast is Dave Robison, host of the Roundtable Podcast.

Comment on the episode here or write john@chronicrift.com. Take a moment to rate the episode by using our star system at the bottom of this entry.

Dave Robison has indulged in creative pursuits his entire life.  His CV includes writing Curious George fan-fiction at the age of eight, improv theater at age ten, playing trumpet at age twelve, as well as a theater degree, creating magazine cover art, writing audio scripts, designing websites, creating board games, hosting mythological roundtables and generally savoring the sweet draught of expression in all its forms.  His years of exploration give him a unique, informed, and eloquent perspective on the art of storytelling.

The Penguin is back in town and his target is Alfred, the faithful butler of millionaire Bruce Wayne.  Batman and Robin are called in to investigate, but a short time later, Alfred is released, safe and sound.  What has happened to Alfred as he now has an odd twitch about him?  Will Batman and Robin find out before the Penguin is able to execute his entire caper?

Joining John to talk about the final episode of the first season is Batman fan, Mike Fichera.

Comment on the episode here or write thebatcavepodcast@gmail.com. Take a moment to rate the episode by using our star system at the bottom of this entry.

Mike Fichera got his start as a Bat-fan during infancy when, according to his brother Victor, one of his first words was shouting "Batman! Green ones!" from the high chair while attempting to miscolor the caped crusader. As a fan of the 60’s Batman show, he learned to exclaim BIF! POW! BAM!  with every stubbed toe, or tumble down the staircase. Years later, Mike became an occasional guest on the cable-TV Chronic Rift as a Spider-Man expert and as the “shameless guy who would dress in silly costumes” for sight gags. Since 2004, Mike has been a freelance writer and artist for Marvel Comics, putting his knowledge of Spider-Man to use for the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe. Though more a Marvel than a DC, he owes much of his riddle-deciphering skills to the Dynamic Duo, and his breathy acting style to Adam West.
