Syfy sprints into the zombie TV craze with the new Asylum-produced series Z NATION! With a premiere episode titled “Puppies and Kittens,” characters using the zed word, and a baby with a serious complexion problem, there’s no doubt this isn’t your father’s WALKING DEAD. Arnold and Scott weigh in on the show’s debut, and Arnold catches us up on the recent INFECT SCRANTON zombie event in Pennsylvania that featured guests including no less than FOUR Leatherfaces, THE WALKING DEAD’s Brighton Sharbino, Addy Miller, and Michael Koske, and NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD legend John Russo! Oh, and a certain Doctor and his ZOMBIEMANIA co-author, Andy Hershberger! Now…RUN!

Seasons change as we look in on the people of HG World, the First Church of Wishwell and the United Nations Necroambulate Disposal Detail. A stand off between the U N and Happy Valley Militia is interrupted by the arrival of a common enemy. Tensions between the constables of HG World come to a head. Ronni finally learns the fate of her family. Members of the church begin to break down as Pastor Dawkins tries to keep them calm and organized in preparation for a long, cold winter.

We have to be clear about this: There are bad movies; there are reprehensible movies; there are movies that make you consider taking out a contract on the entire DGA, just to be sure that never in the future of humankind will there be a chance that such an affront to common decency could again be committed. And then there are films that are a strangely exhilarating kind of awful, the kind that actually restore your faith in the perverse diversity of the human race, that re-instill your wonder in the awesome chaos of the universe, that, as the slogan for Temple of Bad has it, are truly a religious experience. Such a film is A TALKING CAT!?! A putative family comedy that isn’t funny (at least not in a deliberate way) and that would likely rupture any family unfortunate enough to be exposed to it, this film starts with the premise that people would listen to a cat that dispenses cryptic directives in the voice of Eric Roberts, and then throws such niceties as narrative coherence, plausible characterization, decent production values, and commonsense behavior out the window in its attempt to fill its scant eighty-five minutes with something that justifies its existence.

The Temple of Bad team of Andrea Lipinski, Orenthal V. Hawkins, Kevin Lauderdale and Dan Persons get together to try to puzzle out some method behind A TALKING CAT!?!’s madness (spoiler: they don’t succeed). Click on the player to hear the show.

Jay Smith is the creator and executive producer for the Parsec Award-winning audio drama series HG World.  Since 2009, Jay and his company of players and producers have been telling the story of survivors in the middle of a global zombie uprising.  Now in its third season, this "satellite" production has featured dozens of actors across four continents making it a production truly on a global scale.  Since its debut, episodes of HG World and its spin-off series, the Parsec finalist The Diary of Jill Woodbine and The Googies have been downloaded close to a million times.

Inspired by the golden age of radio, Hidden Harbor Mysteries presents a story inspired by stylish pulp era radio adventures like The Shadow, Sam Spade, The Green Hornet, and I Love a Mystery. Performed by a stellar cast, Hidden Harbor hopes to integrate classic radio storytelling with some modern twists.  Jay draws from the work of Orson Welles, Arch Obelor and looks to modern audio dramatists like Douglas Adams and Dirk Maggs as inspiration to create a rich, realistic world of survival horror laced with dark comedy and compelling human drama.

Talia takes us step by step through the process of coming up with material and the terrifying last few moments before walking on stage to make strangers laugh. She tells us about the rush of making a crowd laugh and those terrible nights when they don’t. And we revisit the topic of challenges facing women in comedy – and entertainment in general.

Also, Talia goes into great detail about working on set with Joan Rivers who recently passed making the world a lot less funny.
