Steve tries to help his Russian cosmonaut friend, Vasily (Gary Collins), when a earthquake disrupts a remote Russian base.   Vasilly's fiance is trapped beneath the surface and only the power of a bionic man can save her.

John is joined in the first episode of this new podcast series by fans Eric Cone and Davis Lawson to discuss the episode.  In addition, John's guest is actor Jane Merrow who played Irina, the fiance of Vasily.  They discuss the episode as well as the state of television production today compared to how it was back in 1974.

From Jane Merrow's website - "I have been acting since I was 8 years old, showing off at any opportunity (all actors are show offs, let them not tell you any differently) However I couldn’t start calling myself a professional until 1960, when I started earning my livelihood at it, with my first job as an ASM and understudy in the Lillian Hellman play TOYS IN THE ATTIC, directed by the talented, irascible John Dexter, who told me that the only reason he hired me, was because he could hear me, not true of my contemporaries, according to him. 

Suffice it to say, I have been quite successful as an actor, and able to support myself reasonably well along the way. I loved my career, love my career and will keep at it as long as I am physically and mentally able!

I am not planning to lay out my entire career and life here, I will do that over the life of this site and hope it keeps your interest. Raven Oak is the author of the Amazon bestselling fantasy novel Amaskan’s Blood and the upcoming space operas, Class-M Exile and The Eldest Silence. She began her career as many authors do–with the lofty goal of becoming the next Anne McCaffrey, Connie Willis, or Neil Gaiman. At the age of twelve, she took her first steps into novel writing by penning a 320 page novel about dragons with all the drama of a typical twelve-year-old. She studied English literature and music in college, and in 2001, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of North Texas. She later completed her Master of Science Degree in CECS from UNT in 2005. After twelve years in the classroom as a computer and English teacher, she retired from education to pursue writing full-time.

She was an established member of the now defunct Magnolia Chapter One writing group. Raven is married to her gamer husband, who is a game engineer/software developer. They have three kitties who enjoy lounging across the keyboard when writing deadlines approach. They live on a cliff in Seattle, WA, less than mile from the ocean.

Hollywood legend Tallulah Bankhead gives her final performance as the menacing Black Widow.  Her plot is so simple, even the Batcomputer can't work it out - robbing banks in Gotham in alphabetical order.  As simple as the plt may seem, there is something very endearing about the episode, one that has remained a favorite of John's to this very day.  He's joined in this discussion by Batman at 45 author Chris Gould.

Every great story begins starts with a great idea. But… how do you know if your idea is strong enough to bear the weight of pen and ink? You do what we all do… you tell someone about it.  You talk it through, bounce ideas around, and get some feedback.  You have a discussion.

Now… wouldn’t it be great if you could have that discussion with some folks who’ve been around the block once or twice, who have published a book or two, or edited a few novels?  Now THAT discussion would be fabulous!  Think of what you could learn about your craft, the questions you could ask and the answers you’d get!

That’s what The Roundtable Podcast is all about.  It’s about nurturing ideas, fostering inspiration, and getting the creative juices flowing.  It’s also about mistakes and blind alleys, harsh reality and uncomfortable truths.

Each week we invite publishers, editors, and authors to get on the line with a writer who presents an idea on the table… an idea for a story they want to write.  And then everyone digs in, asking questions, pointing out problems, and proposing solutions.  Characters are dissected or dismissed, plots reinforced or torn apart altogether, and hopefully what started as an idea, becomes something more.

It becomes a story… one we’d all like to hear.

This August 6th marks the 104th birthday of actress, comedian, and entertainment mogul Lucille Ball.  Before there was the television classic I Love Lucy, there was its radio incarnation, My Favorite Husband.  Though her radio husband Richard Denning works in a bank, not as band leader, you can’t help but see the roots of Lucy in Ball’s character Liz and all the zany situations she stumbles into.  But Ball was more than just a comic actress.  Like so many performers during the Golden Age of radio, she worked in drama as well.  This week she and real-life husband Desi Arnaz appear inSuspense, "radio's outstanding theater of thrills," which ran for twenty years.  Here they play strangers engaged in a potentially deadly game of cat-and-mouse.  But who is the criminal and who is the victim?
