I agree DragonHeart did have a lot of potential but the truth is that some people at Universal Pictures wasted it. They dumbed down the screenplay and made it more family-friendly and cheesy, something the screenwriter and original director didn't want and they were the one who came up with the story. I think it's a film in much need of a remake, especially since the novelization is what the film was intended to be, the true version of DragonHeart.
