On an all-new edition of The Weekly Podioplex, the bad guys kept the newbies at bay, but the Sausage Party and Pete's Dragon still performed well in their opening frames. Their days may be numbered as a sword-and-sandals epic gets a modern remake this week, and one has to wonder if Harley Quinn and the Suicide Squad withstand Ben-Hur?
This week also welcomes Denise Lhamon to The Chronic Rift family as joins the show and ushers in the return of the Quick Flicks. Add in some Angry Birds, the story of Raiders, Gotham, Once Upon a Time, and The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai Across the 8th Dimension, and you have a new edition of The Weekly Podioplex, only on The Chronic Rift Network.

"Louie the Lilac" Aired: October 26, 1967 Louie the Lilac wants to corner the flower market of Gotham City with the reasoning that if he does that, he can control the world. It sounds like something similar to what Riddler and Penguin came up with a few weeks ago, but in watching the episode, one finds it kind of makes sense this time. Also, John has stated he's not a fan of Milton Berle, but in discussing this episode, you'll see he actually appreciates Berle in the role of Louie. So what is wrong with this episode? Joining John to discuss the good and the bad of this story is author Jay Smith. Comment on the episode here or write thebatcavepodcast@gmail.com.
Jay Smith is the creator and executive producer for the Parsec Award-winning audio drama series HG World. Since 2009, Jay and his company of players and producers have been telling the story of survivors in the middle of a global zombie uprising. Now in its third season, this "satellite" production has featured dozens of actors across four continents making it a production truly on a global scale. Since its debut, episodes of HG World and its spin-off series, the Parsec finalist The Diary of Jill Woodbine and The Googies have been downloaded close to a million times. Inspired by the golden age of radio, Hidden Harbor Mysteries presents a story inspired by stylish pulp era radio adventures like The Shadow, Sam Spade, The Green Hornet, and I Love a Mystery. Performed by a stellar cast, Hidden Harbor hopes to integrate classic radio storytelling with some modern twists. Jay draws from the work of Orson Welles, Arch Obelor and looks to modern audio dramatists like Douglas Adams and Dirk Maggs as inspiration to create a rich, realistic world of survival horror laced with dark comedy and compelling human drama. Jay holds a BA in Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University and is working on his Master of Fine Arts from Seton Hill University’s innovative Writing Popular Fiction program. He attends and speaks at various science fiction and literary conventions about podcasting, writing, audio drama, and zombies. HG World can be heard by subscribing through iTunes or visiting the show web site www.goodmorningsurvivors.com.

We start with another thrilling science fiction tale adapted for radio on “X-Minus One”: “A Logic Named Joe,” based on the short story by Murray Leinster that first appeared in “Astounding Science Fiction” in March of 1946. Fifty years before the internet, Leinster’s story predicted the use of household computers (“logics”) and the dangers and privacy concerns that would arise once they were networked together. Then the quips never stop when the one, the only Groucho Marx hosts “You Bet Your Life.” A train conductor and a longshoreman, then a diamond merchant and a dime-store saleswoman provide fodder for a flood of one-liners and snappy ad-libs from the funniest man on radio.

Shazam! "Debbie"September 13, 1975
Debbie is a girl who finds herself attracted to wrong people, despite her mother's warnings. When she finds herself getting in too deep and her life in danger, can Captain Marvel save her in time? Also, what happened to Captain Marvel?
On our last Shazam! review, we pointed out how the show did nothing new or innovative with the premiere of the second season. It all seemed like business as usual. Be careful what you wish for. As the credits to this second episode begin, one can see there is clearly someone new in terms of who is wearing the big red suit. John Davey takes over the role of Captain Marvel. Hosts John and Richard discuss Davey's first outing and draw their own comparisons, from childhood and today, to the portrayals of the two actors in the series.
It's all here and we want to hear from you on what you think of the episode. Write us as ShazamIsisPodcast@gmail.com.
Moral: "When a parent sets rules and regulations, it really is a form of expression of their love and concern. Sometimes the hardest thing for them to say is "no." But we can be sure that if they say "no", that most of the time there's a good reason for it."
Guest Cast Cindy Henderson as Debbie Harry Moses as Tom Casey Young as Paul

On an all-new edition of The Weekly Podioplex, Jason Bourne took down the Enterprise as Matt Damon ends his nine year hiatus from the role with a bang. Kirk and crew held off the Bad Moms and the nerve-wracking stunts of Nerve, but this week's good guys may have a tough time against next week's bad guys as the Suicide Squad explodes into theaters.
On the home entertainment front, a handful of big name comedies join The Killing Joke on disc, and The Huntsman brings the Winter's War to digital. TV on DVD is spy drama with Blindspot and The Blacklist, and the sinking of the most famous unsinkable ship comes forward on Blu-Ray. John is joined by Dan Greenfield of 13th Dimension to talk with comic artist Michael Allred. Allred recently completed his run as cover artist for the Batman 66 comic series. In this interview, he discusses how Batman and 60s television influenced his artistic endeavors, how he approached the assignment of cover artist, favorite cover assignments, and working with his family in the comics field. Take a listen and enjoy.
So it should come as no surprise that he keeps a hand in film and music (He's the lead singer and guitarist for The Gear), but comic books have always been a seminal source of joy for Mike and that joy remains the main ingredient in most of his work.

It’s summer time, so I’m giving you a bunch of summer-themed shows. First off, Eve Arden returns as everyone’s favorite sardonic English teacher, Our Miss Brooks. She’s on her summer vacation, but just can’t seem to connect with her would-be paramour, science teacher, Mr. Boyton. Then two episodes of the slice-of-life dramedy, Vic and Sade. First, with only six months until Christmas, everyone is trying to sell holiday cards. Then the family joins in on a simple study of the minutiae of life, discussing everything from sweaters to hail to bacon sandwiches.

On an all-new edition of The Weekly Podioplex, we celebrate a fifth merry un-birthday for the show since we missed the actual date last month. In lieu of wood or silverware, we'll take the Ghostbusters, which couldn't overcome The Secret Life of Pets, but did well with a new record and positive reactions. Of course, Captain Kirk and the Enterprise are bearing down as Star Trek Beyond hits theaters this week, leaving us to wonder how well two franchise sequels will do head to head.
On the home entertainment front, two other goliaths clash as Batman and Superman bring the Dawn of Justice, Back to the Future and Ghostbusters both get new documentaries, and TV on DVD gets post-apocalyptic with The 100, a whole lot of Tatiana Maslanys with Orphan Black, and a Person of Interest boxset for spice. Wrap it up with a look back at the 1920s as The Daughter of Dawn comes to Blu-Ray, and you have a new edition of The Weekly Podioplex, only on The Chronic Rift Network.

Isis "The Lights of MysteryMountain"September 6, 1975
We begin our reviews of The Secrets of Isis with this episode. Cindy Lee reports of the strange lights in the skies over Mystery Mountain. Is it possible that an alien invasion is coming? There are those missing people to account for. And what happens when Cindy Lee herself disappears?
John and Richard discuss the the poor transformation sequence, the lack of stunts, and the odd plot choices in this opening story. Despite all this, they also both agree that this is a much better beginning episode for a series than Shazam! got.
It's all here and we want to hear from you on what you think of the episode. Write us as ShazamIsisPodcast@gmail.com.
Moral: "Practical jokes can be taken too far."
Guest Cast Kelly Thordson as Joel Moss Hank Brandt as Sheriff Harley Kenneth Wolger as Art Byron Michael Maitland as Chick Jeffers Albert Reed as Dr. Joshua Barnes

Thanks to Kliph Nesteroff’s brilliant new book, “The Comedians: Drunks, Thieves, Scoundrels, and the History of American Comedy” for making me aware of a comedian and an OTR show I had never heard of before. Harry Einstein, who is the father of comedians Albert Brooks and Bob Einstein (a.k.a. Super Dave Osborne) had a successful career in the 1940s and ‘50s working under the persona of Parkyakarkus – “Parky” for short. The conceit was that Parky was a malapropism-prone Greek restaurant owner in Hollywood. Parky appeared on the Eddie Cantor and Al Jolson shows, and then, from June of 1945 to July of 1948, on his own show, “Meet Me At Parky’s.” “Jeff Regan, Investigator” was one the many shows that Jack Webb had a hand in. When he left to create “Dragnet,” it went off the air. But it was resurrected a year later starring Frank Graham. Not quite a comedy, but not too hard-boiled either, “Jeff Regan, Investigator” deftly balances the light and dark sides of P.I.s from the Golden Age of Radio.
Episodes Meet Me At Parky’s “The New Landlady” June 17, 1945 4:15

On an all-new edition of The Weekly Podioplex, it was a good week to be a newcomer as bank heists, orcs, and supernatural terror won the weekend. Also, adding credence to what has been a bad punchline for a long time, so did China as they continue on course to become the world's largest movie market. To combat the specters this week, Disney is taking another adventure with a forgetful fish in Finding Dory. It will likely perform well, but will it overcome the curse of lackluster sequels in 2016? On the home entertainment front, we visit 10 Cloverfield Lane, watch London fall, and welcome home old friends with Star Trek, the X-Files, and Dark Shadows. Wrap it all up with a look at next month's cinematic offerings, and you have a new edition of The Weekly Podioplex, only on The Chronic Rift Network. Weekly Podioplex Notes for June 14, 2016

On an all-new edition of The Weekly Podioplex, the Apocalypse was almost averted by the heroes on the half-shell, but it's mixed news for the studio. Both sets of comic book heroes could see a challenge with the Now You See Me sequel, the premiere of Warcraft, and another visit to the horrors of The Conjuring. Will they be enough to jump start the flagging summer season? On the home theater front, it's a list of big hitters, including Disney's Zootopia, Michael Bay, and George Clooney. TV takes a Quantum Leap this week, and a Star Trek blockbuster goes Blu with a director's cut. What more could you want? It's a new edition of The Weekly Podioplex, only on The Chronic Rift Network.

On an all-new edition of The Weekly Podioplex, the Apocalypse has arrived, but it's certainly not the big Memorial Day winner that everyone had hoped. In fact, even with a new milestone under their ears, Disney couldn't save the holiday from a soft start to the summer season. Hoping to take advantage of that performance is a set of lean green pizza-eating ninja heroes on the half shell, but can their zany antics dethrone the X-Men? On the home theater front, it's CG gods versus Jane Austen and the undead, with an inspirational Olympic biodrama to run circles around both. Add a little discussion to dismiss some fear-mongering, and you have a new edition of The Weekly Podioplex, only on The Chronic Rift Network.

King Tut is back in Gotham City with a new set of predictions that includes the identity of Batman. But just what is the purpose of all these predictions? Tut doesn't seem interested in gaining control of Gotham City as his new kingdom. He's more interested in gaining control of the universe and his scheme will ensure this happens. And where is Batgirl in all this? Joining John to discuss this episode, one of the better of the third season and a fitting continuation of the Tut storyline, is Shazam/Isis Podcast host Richard F. Lee.

The United States was only a couple months into World War Two when tonight’s episode of the classic comedy “The Great Gildersleeve” takes place. In an effort to raise money for war-time relief, Gildy gets dragged into posing as a (female – what else?) fortune teller. Despite the standard sit-com set-up, this takes some very funny twists and turns. Then Orson Welles returns as Harry Lime in “The Lives of Harry Lime.” Not quite the psychopathic murderer he was in the movie “The Third Man,” where he originated the role, here Welles’ Lime is more a charming, ne’er-do-well con man. Tonight, has he met his match in a pair of similarly-charming con artists?

On an all-new edition of The Weekly Podioplex, #TeamCap and #TeamIronMan tore up the box office as Captain America: Civil War broke records worldwide for Disney and Marvel. With little competition this week combined with critical and audience acclaim, the storm will likely continue for another weekend. But the Marvel influence doesn't stop there as the Deadpool, the Merc with a Mouth, brings home the chimichangas on DVD and Blu-Ray this week. Shazam! "On Winning"September 6, 1975
The second season of Shazam! begins and it looks like business as usual. In fact, that's the problem here, for a season premiere of a hot Saturday morning television show, the opening of its second season is somewhat lackluster. Two brothers are vying for their father's attention and the younger of the two feels left out. But he soon learns that his father loves him enough to risk his life for him.
The second season of Shazam! begins and while there are many changes in store for the coming season, this first episode doesn't seem to demonstrate it. John and Richard discuss how what is right with a usual episode of Shazam! is what is wrong with this season opener. Plus, they discuss how the Elders flashbacks that Billy has during the course of the episode are not neccessary and won't be missed on Isis.
It's all here and we want to hear from you on what you think of the episode. Write us as ShazamIsisPodcast@gmail.com.
Moral: "Winning isn't the important thing. What is important, is to do the very best you can. And a parent's love is a very special kind of love, its so big, that no matter how many brothers or sisters you have, there's more than enough love for everyone."

On an all-new edition of The Weekly Podioplex, Mowgli remained king of the box office jungle as the Huntsman fell on his axe, and the Man-Cub faces some competition from comedies as the box office prepares for #TeamCap and #TeamIronMan to wage Civil War. On an all-new edition of The Weekly Podioplex, the Dawn of Justice was made dimmer by Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Bell, but with a terrible reception, can it keep the supers down? It may have some help with Disney's magic and the retelling of one of their classics. Heroes at war continue the story as the Justice League and the Teen Titans slug it out on Blu-Ray, Tim Kring's vision of humans battling evolution comes to your shelf, and Marvel's Phase Three gets ready to kick things off with #TeamCap vs #TeamIronMan. On an all-new no foolin' edition of The Weekly Podioplex, the bunny took a backseat as Batman and Superman battled their way through several records for a stellar weekend. The big question is whether or not those titans can keep the box office throne against brutal critical reviews and a lackluster new release slate. This, some winter films for your home theater, and a return to the Satellite of Love fill out the rest of this week's edition of The Weekly Podioplex, brought to you on the Chronic Rift Network.

“Information Please” was the greatest quiz show in the history of Old Time Radio. In this episode, there’s a lot of talk about the upcoming 1940 presidential election, plus yet another reference to the Dione quintuplets. Then, in honor of the start of the baseball season, it’s time for an episode of “X Minus One,” the science fiction anthology program. The 21st Century Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team find themselves at of the bottom of the standings. How on earth – make that how on Mars – will they ever make it to the playoffs? Episodes

“The Romance of the Ranchos” was one of the more unusual series to be broadcast during the Golden Age of Radio. Sponsored by the Title Insurance and Trust Company of Los Angeles, each episode traced the history of a certain district of Southern California from the days of the Ranchos – when everything was still owned by Spain and Mexico in the 1700s – up to then-contemporary times, the 1940s. Through a series of vivid historical vignettes, listeners would hear how these areas changed and grew to become well-known cities and neighborhoods. This episode centers on the discovery of the La Brea Tar Pits, that bubbling pool of crude oil where mastodon and saber-toothed tiger bones were found at the start of the 20th Century. Then Groucho Marx returns in another episode of the greatest comedy radio quiz show of all time, “You Bet Your Life.” You’re sure to enjoy not only Groucho’s bon mots, but the true story of Bob von Kuznick, whose adventures in the Korean War amaze to this day.

It's very odd that Burgess Meredith returns so quickly in this early part of the third season. It's even more odd that they pair him up with Ethel Merman as Lola Lasagna in the first two-part story of the season. And in many respects, it's a wasted opportunity as the two are used more as a Vaudville act more than anything Batman-related. And yet, this look at Penguin trying to horn in on the horse racing world has more weight to it than Riddler's previous attempt to become the "King of the Ring."
Joining John to discuss what worked and what didn't work in this story that could have been a one part story is podcaster, The Hunnic Outcast.

All the hosts, current and former, have writing experience of some kind. They gather on a weekly basis to share stories of their individual journeys and discuss topics important to the world of writing. Occasional forays into the territories of brown dragons, taco eating cowboy space ninjas, or random discussions involving monkeys are all considered rumor at best and none of the hosts are willing to admit any of that actually happened.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens climbed upward in the box office ranking this weekend, but it wasn't enough to keep it at the top. In addition, Ride Along 2 didn't hold the spot as well. A new movie has taken the position, but how long will that last when there are new movie releases for Febraury just around the corner? Michael Falkner has this and more on an all new episode of The Weekly Podioplex.

“Bobby Benson and the B-Bar-B Riders” was a kid’s radio show set in “the modern West.” Bobby was a 12-year-old who had inherited a Texas cattle ranch, the B-Bar-B. He and his ranch hands struggled against rustlers and other sorts of appropriately western, but mid-20th-Century, hazards. This episode prominently features a young Don Knotts playing crusty old-timer Windy Wales. In Windy, you’ll hear the roots of Knotts’ Nervous Man character, who eventually morphed in Deputy Barney Fife on “The Andy Griffith Show.” Then Bing Crosby hosts the “The Kraft Music Hall,” the radio program that solidified his place in radio history. Crosby hosted the variety show for a decade, singing standards and popular tunes of the day as well as cracking wise with plenty of guest stars. This time, he hosts young Donald O’Connor, who’s about to go into the Army. Bing open with the post-war classic “San Fernando Valley,” then he and O’Connor mix it up with “Small Fry.”

"The Wail of the Siren"Aired September 28, 1967We met her briefly in the last episode, but now The Siren takes the center stage as the villainess of the week. Joan Collins is one of the better guests and gives one of the better performances in the third season. In fact, there is much to be praised about this story which has more of the feel of a second season story and also has one of the better Robin/Batgirl team-ups. Joining John to discuss what many consider one of the better, if not one of the best, episodes of the third season is writer/editor Glenn Greenberg.
Glenn Greenberg is an award-winning editor and writer. He worked extensively for Marvel Comics and DC Comics on such properties as Spider-Man, the Hulk, Superman, Star Trek, Star-Lord, the Silver Surfer, Thor, Iron Man, and Dracula, as well as Web-based tie-in projects for the film Superman Returns and the weekly comic-book series 52. His work has also appeared in such publications as TIME Magazine For Kids, Scholastic News, Time Out New York, Back Issue, and Smoke. Glenn has also written several works of prose Star Trek fiction for Simon and Schuster, and is now making the jump to The X-Files for an upcoming fiction anthology that will be published by IDW. He avidly covers all aspects of popular culture on his blog, “Glenn Greenberg’s Grumblings” (http://glenngreenbergsgrumblings.blogspot.com), and welcomes anyone and everyone to check it out.)

We start off the new year with The Jack Benny Show. Jack, Mary, and the gang are celebrating the change-over from 1938 to 1939. They survey the previous year, which included Howard Hughes flying around the world and “Wrong Way” Corrigan, who left New York for California, but ended up flying to Ireland. Then before Jack Webb was Sergeant Joe Friday on Dragnet, he was the titular hero of Pat Novak, For Hire. Pat was a sort of un-detective. He ran a boat rental place on the San Francisco Bay, but solved crimes and problems to raise extra cash. Pat’s tough guy, hard-boiled lingo is a far cry from Friday’s “Just the Facts” persona.

"Ring Around the Riddler"Aired September 21, 1967It's the 50th review episode of the podcast! And what a way to celebrate! Frank Gorshin is back as The Riddler! His latest scheme? To become the king of the ring by taking over the boxing world in Gotham...
Yeah, for this they brought Frank Gorshin back? As kids, John and his guest were just excited to see The Riddler, but they are not as loving of this episode now as adults. What's wrong with it? How has their view of it changed and how did it change from one of the earlier versions of the script?
Joining John to discuss this episode is Dan Greenfield, creator and author of the 13th Dimension website.
Dan Greenfield is the editor and co-creator of 13thDimension.com, a website devoted primarily to comics and pop culture, past and present. To him, the basic food groups are Batman, Planet of the Apes, Star Trek (the Original Series), James Bond, the Beatles and the Stones. But if he had to he'd be able to subsist on Batman alone. Channel 11 in New York was his favorite syndicated channel as a kid -- you can guess why -- followed closely by Channel 5. Channel 9 didn't really enter into it unless he was home sick and there wasn't much else on. He's married to his remarkably patient wife Wendy and his best sidekick is his son, Sam. They have two cats,Lex and Zod.

Vinnie is out of jail and looking for revenge on Jackie. Will Jackie take on Vinnie? Why does everyone think Billy is looking for a fight? Was this episode really necessary?
The first season of Shazam! comes to an end with the second of a two-part story. And the real question is, "Was this episode really necessary?" John and Richard come at the episode from different sides and have very different opinions on it.
It's all here and we want to hear from you on what you think of the episode. Write us as ShazamIsisPodcast@gmail.com.
Moral: "In the end, fighting doesn't prove anything. It makes more sense to work together, and iron out our differences in a constructive, rather than a destructive way."

Well, it had to happen - the first story to be a disappointment and find its way to the bottom of the ranking list. "The Keys of Marinus" is another ambitious story filled with mutiple characters and multiple locations, just as with the previous story, "Marco Polo". Unlike the previous story, this one is complete for one to view - and that might not be a good thing. John talks about the weaknesses in "The Keys of Marinus" that includes the introduction of the trope that Doctor Who doesn't do very well - the mini-adventures within a larger quest story arc.
Current Rankings
1 - Marco Polo
2 - The Daleks
3 - An Unearthly Child
4 - Edge of Destruction
5 - The Keys of Marinus

Interview: David Nykl
Nykl was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, to a nurse mother and a structural engineer father. After the Soviet invasion in 1968, he and his family left then-Communist Czechoslovakia for Canada. Upon arriving at Victoria, British Columbia. Nykl attended the University of British Columbia, where he majored in liberal arts.
Nykl has appeared heavily in Vancouver and Prague in dozens of theater, film and television productions. Known for his versatility and depth as an actor, he has also produced theatre and film projects, and in 1994, he co-founded Prague’s Misery Loves Company Theatre with Richard Toth and Ewan McLaren.
He is known to science fiction fans as the recurring Stargate Atlantis character of Dr. Radek Zelenka, a Czech scientist on Earth’s expedition to the “lost city” of Atlantis. His character often provides a foil to the main scientists, who forget the limits of their situation.
He is fluent in Czech, English, French and Spanish. Though his character on Stargate Atlantis speaks English with a Czechaccent, Nykl normally speaks with a Canadian accent. Whenever Zelenka spoke Czech in Stargate Atlantis, Nykl was given the lines in English, and he translated them.

Was it any surprise that Star Wars: The Force Awakens did as well as it did at the box office this past weekend? And it certainly looks to hold that spot this weekend despite there being four new movie releases to challenge it. Taking a break from the screenwriting world for a second to talk about an important and all-too common issue. The holiday season is for some the most joyful, fun and carefree time of year. For others, the holiday season can be a genuine struggle with depression, addiction and suicidal tendencies. The battle for mental health is one of the biggest and most important challenges of anyone’s life. Yet far too often we feel helpless to fight our own demons or don’t know how to help loved ones with their torment. I’m joined by Elizabeth Lombino. In addition to being my friend for 30 plus years, Elizabeth is a licensed clinical social worker and writer on the subject of depression. In this interview, she goes over some of the why’s and how’s of why the holidays can be so hard. We also talk about real, practical ways one can help themselves and how you can you help others. There’s no clear cut answer to these very real dangers people struggle with – but there are ways to help. I hope this insightful interview offers some light in the storm to those who may need it: For those who need who help or want to help those in danger of suicide, don’t hesitate call this number: 1-800-273-TALK: For more on the suicide prevention hotline: http://www.suicidepreventionlifeline.org/ For more on Elizabeth and her writings: Elizabeth’s Suicide Is Not A Choice piece: http://elizabethlombino.com/2014/08/12/suicide-is-not-a-choice/ My own thoughts on mental illness and suicide:

The Doctor and his companions wind up at the top of the Himalayas, "The Roof of the World", where they discover the TARDIS has lost all power. They are saved from a frozen death by traveller Marco Polo and his caravan. He is intrigued though by the Doctor's caravan, the TARDIS, and seizes it in the name of Kublai Khan in the hopes he will be released from his service.
The story is one of the first we will be covering that doesn't exist in a moving image form. It was reconstructed using audio and photos from the episode. Despite this, this story has to be one of the best of William Hartnell's era and deserves a careful viewing, even by the casual fan.

It’s December, so it’s time for some Christmas-themed episodes. We start off with The Harold Peary Show. Peary had been a huge success starring in The Great Gildersleeve, but left due to a contract dispute. This eponymous series was an obvious attempt to copy Gildersleeve. The show only lasted one season but did result in a couple of great episodes including this Christmas one which features Harold and reformed thief. Then “The Robin Hood of Modern Crime,” Simon Templar, in the form (well, voice) of Vincent Price returns in another action-packed episode of The Saint. It’s Christmas Eve and Simon has an appointment to play Santa for a bunch of under-privileged tiny tots. Nothing could possibly go wrong.

SEARCHING FOR... RHODE ISLAND'S CHILD An episode decades in the making! We bring in Ken to "Rush To Judgement" on Travis's secret past as a child news anchor on a Rhode Island PBS show called "Rhode Island's Child". We discover the show's past is rife with arson and deceit (much of the deceit ongoing), as well as speculate on best practices for finding the "lost archive". In all likelihood, this will be a multiple-parter, with more to come as the investigation continues...

An unknown force seems to have taken over the TARDIS and rocks the Doctor and his companions about so that they all pass out. When they come to, there is confusion, doubt, and eventually mistrust, especially from the Doctor. But meanwhile there are other strange things going on. The TARDIS continues to show a stream of stellar images on the scanner that culminates in an explosion and all the time pieces on the ship have been distorted in horrifying ways. What is happening and can the Doctor work it out before the TARDIS is destroyed?
This is a sharp two-part story that allowed for more time in the preparation of the next major serial, "Marco Polo". Listen in as John points out the good and the bad in this quick story review.

The TARDIS lands on a dead alien world. But is it really dead? Susan swears something brushed up against her and then there's the alien city the Doctor wants to explore. Perhaps there's something to explain what happened to world. The Doctor is willing to risk everything to explore it. And when they discover there is life, it's not friendly.
John takes a look at the second story in the first series of Doctor Who, "The Daleks" and offers his thoughts on why he thinks this is one of the better Dalek stories that have been made in the show's 50 year history.

Our Interview with Jamie Murray: Jaime Murray (born 21 July 1976) is an English actress, known for playing Stacie Monroe in the BBC series Hustle and Lila West in the Showtime series Dexter. She is also known for her recurring roles as Gaia in Starz’ Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, as Olivia Charles in The CW’s Ringer and as Helena G. Wells in Warehouse 13. Murray stars as Stahma Tarr in the Syfy series Defiance.
Murray was born in London, England, to Elaine and English actor Billy Murray. She was named after Lindsay Wagner’s character Jaime Sommers in the 1970s television series The Bionic Woman. Just before taking her A Levels, Murray was diagnosed with dyslexia. She briefly studied philosophy and psychology at the London School of Economics, but dropped out to train at the Drama Centre London, graduating in 2000.
Murray’s first taste of stardom was miming the lyrics in the 1996 original video of Stretch & Vern’s dance track “I’m Alive”. Some of her early television appearances included minor guest roles in BBC One’s Casualty, The Bill, Love Soup, and ShakespeaRe-Told: The Taming of the Shrew.
Murray starred as Stacie Monroe in Hustle from series 1 until series 4. In one episode of Hustle, Murray so impressed her co-star Robert Vaughn with her modeling of a Wonder Woman costume that, according to several online sources, he showed it to studio executives in Hollywood; on the strength of this, Murray was invited to audition for the part of Wonder Woman in the upcoming Wonder Woman movie. Later, Murray reprised her role as Stacie Monroe in Hustle Series 8 Relocating to Los Angeles, California, Murray starred in Dexter as Lila Tourney, Dexter Morgan’s Narcotics Anonymous sponsor and the main antagonist in Season 2. Dexter spends one night in a hotel with Lila without any sexual contact just a brief kiss, leading to his breakup with his girlfriend Rita Bennett, but he soon realizes that Lila is in fact a sociopath who hangs out in support groups in an attempt to vicariously experience emotions in a safe environment by closely observing them in recovering addicts. She immediately sees through Dexter’s “mask” and becomes obsessed with him, believing him to be her soulmate.
In mid-2008, Murray joined the cast of The CW’s Valentine playing the lead character, Grace Valentine. The show began airing in October 2008, but was cancelled by the end of the month. Murray was cast in another CW show, The Beautiful Life: TBL, as a wardrobe stylist, but the show was canceled before she was able to appear.
Murray finished shooting Possessions in 2010, and is currently shooting The Rapture. She starred in the 2010 horror film Devil’s Playground, directed by Mark McQueen, and then appeared as Helena G. Wells on the Syfy series Warehouse 13. Murray’s portrayal of Helena G. Wells received critical praise. Her portrayal was described as “saucy”, “superb”, as able to “anchor a series”, and “endlessly fascinating”. Her absence as the villainess in the season 3 Christmas episode, “The Greatest Gift”, was bemoaned with the lamentation “she would have done it better”. Murray was nominated for a 2012 Portal Award for her portrayal of Helena G. Wells on Warehouse 13.
Murray also made a guest appearance on the Fox series The Finder, where she played a drug coordinator. Murray starred in the Starz miniseries Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, as Gaia, a longtime friend of Lucretia. Murray made an appearance on the Partially Examined Life philosophy podcast, playing a part in Sartre’s “No Exit”, alongside Lucy Lawless, Mark Linsenmayer and Wes Alwan.
She starred as Stahma Tarr in the Syfy series Defiance, which premiered on 15 April 2013.
Murray modeled clothing in television advertisements for Debenhams department store. Murray is signed to Models 1 in London. She has also appeared in men’s magazines such as GQ, Mayfair, and FHM, as well as women’s magazines such as Hello!, Cosmopolitan, and OK!.

"Enter Batgirl, Exit Penguin"Aired: September 16, 1967
The Penguin is back in Gotham City with a scheme that seems foolproof - marry Commissioner Gordon's daughter Barbara and then he will be immune from prosecution. Can Batman and Robin stop him from reaching the alter on time or will they need the help of Batgirl? Who's driving this plot and should it have gone as far as it did?
Joining John to discuss the first televised Batgirl episode and to ask the question, "Should this be a Joker episode?" is author Jay Smith.
Here's another audio mystery, this time by the all-around god-like being of The Chronic Rift Network, John S. Drew. After the success of THE OLD CURIOSITY SHOP, John pitched the idea of a mystery series to the producers of WCRS Radio Stage and this is the first in a series of three. Justin Case is an old-fashioned detective who likes doing things the old-fashioned way. He doesn't have a smart phone, doesn't use a computer - he still reads the newspaper! He's down on his luck though as his ways don't seem to impress many of today's clientele. But he gets a break when he's hired to find the killer of a late night radio talk show host who died while on the air. All indications are it was a heart attack, but Justin has to prove it's otherwise.

He's spoken of his love for the series for many years on various podcasts. Now, host John S. Drew takes you along his personal journey through time and space to explore each and every episode of the cult television series, Doctor Who. In the first episode, John looks at "An Unearthly Child" and points out that while it's not all that great a story, it is still a story that is essential to the entire core of who the Doctor is. Play along with John and watch "The Daleks", the next story to be reviewed by watching on Hulu or on DVD.

It’s the beginning of the holiday season on “Presenting the Transcription Feature.” Thanksgiving is not too early for the Lux Radio Theater adaptation of Miracle on 34th Street, featuring the movie’s original stars: Maureen O’Hara, John Payne, and Edmund Gwenn. Remember that the show’s inciting incident is the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and the rest of the story plays out over the month of December. So, as you prepare that turkey and those yams, tune in to some classic old time radio.

Writing music feels like voodoo to me so it’s with great pleasure I welcome composer Kyle Newmaster to the show. Kyle is a classically trained musician who studied jazz before turning his hand to movie soundtracks. A lifelong fan of the movies, Kyle has scored a variety of films including “Where Hope Grows”, “ABC’s Of Death 2”, “Something Wicked” and “The Myth Of The American Sleepover.” With “Star Wars” in the air, we also touch upon Kyle’s work on video games for the famous saga. Kyle gives us a detailed rundown on how a movie score is completed, from those first notes on a piano all the way to orchestration. The process is not that different from that of screenwriting as we found many similarities in our discussion. Sometimes creative endeavors seem impossibly daunting but Kyle offers great insight on how to tackle them one step – or note – at a time.

Doctor of the Dead: 61 - THE WALKING DEAD S06E06 Z NATION S02E10 ASH VS EVIL DEAD S01E03 IZOMBIE S02E06
Arnold and Scott are “Always Accountable” when it comes to critiquing the latest episode of THE WALKING DEAD, and if you ask the they’ll say “We Were Nowhere Near the Grand Canyon.” That goes for the team on Z NATION too, but never mind that because it’s time to talk about “Books From Beyond” courtesy of the newest installment of ASH VS. EVIL DEAD. Finally, some major Major revelations come up in “Max Wager” on iZOMBIE. Four zombie shows, no waiting!
