On an all-new edition of The Weekly Podioplex, Star Trek warps into number one on a profitable weekend, defeating the pets, the Ice Age, and scares in the dark. The Enterprise (or what's left of her) has star power, but so does super-agent Jason Bourne, who makes his return to theaters after a while off. Can Kirk defeat Bourne, or will the Enterprise crash and burn?
On the home entertainment front, The Boss and Hardcore Henry make their disc debuts, and the Joker takes a dark swing at the Caped Crusader as The Killing Joke comes to digital. We also get another movie marathon on the Satellite of Love, a new Criterion release, and a brief look at the month of August as we wrap up a new edition of The Weekly Podioplex, only on The Chronic Rift Network.

It’s summer time, so I’m giving you a bunch of summer-themed shows. First off, Eve Arden returns as everyone’s favorite sardonic English teacher, Our Miss Brooks. She’s on her summer vacation, but just can’t seem to connect with her would-be paramour, science teacher, Mr. Boyton. Then two episodes of the slice-of-life dramedy, Vic and Sade. First, with only six months until Christmas, everyone is trying to sell holiday cards. Then the family joins in on a simple study of the minutiae of life, discussing everything from sweaters to hail to bacon sandwiches.

On an all-new edition of The Weekly Podioplex, we celebrate a fifth merry un-birthday for the show since we missed the actual date last month. In lieu of wood or silverware, we'll take the Ghostbusters, which couldn't overcome The Secret Life of Pets, but did well with a new record and positive reactions. Of course, Captain Kirk and the Enterprise are bearing down as Star Trek Beyond hits theaters this week, leaving us to wonder how well two franchise sequels will do head to head.
On the home entertainment front, two other goliaths clash as Batman and Superman bring the Dawn of Justice, Back to the Future and Ghostbusters both get new documentaries, and TV on DVD gets post-apocalyptic with The 100, a whole lot of Tatiana Maslanys with Orphan Black, and a Person of Interest boxset for spice. Wrap it up with a look back at the 1920s as The Daughter of Dawn comes to Blu-Ray, and you have a new edition of The Weekly Podioplex, only on The Chronic Rift Network.

After a three-week break, The Weekly Podioplex is back! On an all-new edition, Dory is still swimming strong after four weeks, but she couldn't outrun the Secret Life of Pets. The pets have spooky competition the week as the controversial Ghostbusters reboot is ready to take the stage. Can the thirty-year old brand overcome the grumpy fans and prove that it's the one to call?
On the home entertainment front, The Divergent Series: Allegiant and Green Room dominate the movies while iZombie and Slasher make their way to TV on DVD. To top it all off, Universal refreshes things with pop art Blu-Rays from the Past as a new edition of The Weekly Podioplex, only available on The Chronic Rift Network, floods into your earbuds.

Isis "The Lights of MysteryMountain"September 6, 1975
We begin our reviews of The Secrets of Isis with this episode. Cindy Lee reports of the strange lights in the skies over Mystery Mountain. Is it possible that an alien invasion is coming? There are those missing people to account for. And what happens when Cindy Lee herself disappears?
John and Richard discuss the the poor transformation sequence, the lack of stunts, and the odd plot choices in this opening story. Despite all this, they also both agree that this is a much better beginning episode for a series than Shazam! got.
It's all here and we want to hear from you on what you think of the episode. Write us as ShazamIsisPodcast@gmail.com.
Moral: "Practical jokes can be taken too far."
Guest Cast Kelly Thordson as Joel Moss Hank Brandt as Sheriff Harley Kenneth Wolger as Art Byron Michael Maitland as Chick Jeffers Albert Reed as Dr. Joshua Barnes

Thanks to Kliph Nesteroff’s brilliant new book, “The Comedians: Drunks, Thieves, Scoundrels, and the History of American Comedy” for making me aware of a comedian and an OTR show I had never heard of before. Harry Einstein, who is the father of comedians Albert Brooks and Bob Einstein (a.k.a. Super Dave Osborne) had a successful career in the 1940s and ‘50s working under the persona of Parkyakarkus – “Parky” for short. The conceit was that Parky was a malapropism-prone Greek restaurant owner in Hollywood. Parky appeared on the Eddie Cantor and Al Jolson shows, and then, from June of 1945 to July of 1948, on his own show, “Meet Me At Parky’s.” “Jeff Regan, Investigator” was one the many shows that Jack Webb had a hand in. When he left to create “Dragnet,” it went off the air. But it was resurrected a year later starring Frank Graham. Not quite a comedy, but not too hard-boiled either, “Jeff Regan, Investigator” deftly balances the light and dark sides of P.I.s from the Golden Age of Radio.
Episodes Meet Me At Parky’s “The New Landlady” June 17, 1945 4:15
