There are no words to express the loss felt by so many around the world at the passing of actor, artist, and immortal icon Leonard Nimoy on Friday, February 27, 2015 at the age of 83. Universally known as the cooly logical Mr. Spock from STAR TREK, Nimoy made his mark on our culture in countless ways beyond his most memorable role. Join Scott and Arnold for an all-too-brief but heartfelt tribute to the man that lived long and prospered, and in doing so changed all of our lives for the better. As always, we welcome all feedback at contact@g2vpodcast.com or on our Facebook page!

We’ve reached the “Coda” as Season 5 of THE WALKING DEAD says goodbye until its second half in 2015. Rick and the gang are about to assault Grady Memorial Hospital to rescue Carol and Beth, but there’s bound to be bloodshed and tears before the credits roll. Join Arnold and Scott as they hide a pair of scissors and chat about what was good, what wasn’t so good, and what sort of grade the Doctor thinks the episode deserves!
Also this episode: Murphy’s powers expand and the human/zombie hybrid is pressed into helping infiltrate a pharmaceutical storage warehouse in “Murphy’s Law” on Z NATION! And remember, the show reaches its Season 1 finale Friday, December 5, with an episode titled – of all things – “DOCTOR OF THE DEAD!” How about that?

Time to review some zombie literature before it gathers dust on the Doctor’s shelves! Since the show began, many have suggested or offered a variety of comics and books for review. In this episode we play catch-up, taking a look at the exploits of a reanimated cat, the “true” story of the cursed Old West, the effects of a zombie outbreak on America’s Favorite Teenager, and the first volume in an ongoing apocalyptic literary saga. Pull up a seat in the Library of the Living Dead, but stay quiet…they can find you by the beat of your heart!

It’s back to Roarton and IN THE FLESH, the BBC3/BBC America zombie…excuse us, PDS sufferers…television series created and written by Dominic Mitchell! We’re almost at the end of Series 2, and a lot has happened since we last looked in on Kieren Walker, Amy Dyer, and the rest of the gang. This time we catch up on episodes 2-5 just in time for what is sure to be a powerful finale, but is life – and death – getting any better for the residents of Roarton? Is a Second Rising looming in their future, and can it only happen if the First Risen faces his or her eternal doom? Can happiness and harmony be found in a new world where old fears and prejudices – not to mention new ones – have risen along with the “Redeemed?” And perhaps most importantly, can a zombie evolve and even find true love?

Film maker Anthony Masi talks about telling tales of horror history with the G2V Guys! G2V’s own Arnold T. Blumberg is one of many commentators appearing in this roller coaster ride of a feature that explores Masi’s favorite subject – the macabre magic and misdirection that makes movie monstrosities so mesmerizing!

He’s the man behind the Eberron campaign setting for Dungeons & Dragons, the creator of the Gloom card game, and he might even be able to grab his hat just before the stone wall closes! He’s Keith Baker, game designer extraordinaire, and in this episode Scott and Arnold talk with Keith about his career, his creations, and his critical hit on the hearts and minds of gamers everywhere!
SPECIAL NOTE: There were some minor technical issues with the audio during the interview, but we hope it doesn’t lessen anyone’s enjoyment of the wealth of info and great conversation!

We continue our enthusiastic support for the new web series Saving Throw, a show that will do for roleplaying whatTableTop did for boardgames. This time we welcome one of the show’s hosts, Ivan Van Norman! And joining us in this four-way (stop it) chat about all things RPG is Stephanie Blumberg! If that last name looks familiar…yes. She’s Arnold’s wife, but she’s also a lifelong gamer, active GM (or DM if you prefer), and has written for magazines like Cinescape and books like Outside In. She’s also currently writing an essay for an upcoming book focusing on women in gaming.
Roll the dice and join the game – relax, no one will bite…yet!

While Wil Wheaton’sTableTop series for Geek & Sundry has you covered for boardgames (and we talked about that very show with associate producer Boyan Radakovich two episodes back!), it’s time to turn our attention to RPGs. Dom Zook joins us to talk about the web-based series Saving Throw, and how they hope to become for roleplaying what TableTop is for boardgames! It’s a lively chat about the joy of playing games and playing a character other than yourself – time to roll your D20!

Do we really have to say it? You want us to say it, don’t you. OK…
The G2V Guys go APE this time around as they’re joined by Scott Collura of IGN.com and the Transporter Room 3 podcast! From the publication of Pierre Boulle’s 1963 novel LA PLANETE DES SINGES (MONKEY PLANET) to five feature films, animated and live-action TV series, comics, toys, two reboots, and now the latest chapter in a new incarnation on its way this summer, thePLANET OF THE APES universe has never been more popular. G2V has a search through the Sacred Scrolls, bewares the Beast Man, and trudges through a desert of diverse observations to get to the most shattering secret of all (yes, more shocking than the Statue of Liberty!) – what makes us all fans of those damn, dirty APES?
Revenge From Planet Ape! (this bizarre voiceover was appended by distributors to a cut US release of 1971′s TOMBS OF THE BLIND DEAD to try to convince moviegoers that the Spanish horror film was somehow connected to the APES franchise due to the tenuous visual design link between the Apes and the mummified Templar zombies in the film – trust us, the whole thing is nuts!)
(RIGHT CLICK THE IMAGE TO SAVE THE EPISODE TO YOUR COMPUTER)
The G2V Guys welcome Boyan “Bo” Radakovich – associate producer of the hit Geek & Sundry web show, TableTop, starring Wil Wheaton and a rotating assortment of celebrity guests – to talk about the making of the series, the upcoming Second “International TableTop Day” taking place around the globe, and the shared passion for gaming that has turned the hobby into a mainstream pursuit now enjoyed by more people than ever before. Roll the dice, make your move, and listen as the Face of Bo tells all!

It’s a new year and a new “Galaxy” for The G2V Podcast as we kick off 2014 with a special episode that turns the spotlight on The G2V Guys themselves: Scott Alan Woodard and Arnold T. Blumberg!
“After six months of producing this podcast and building an audience that we really truly appreciate, we thought it was long past time to introduce ourselves in a substantial way. Who are these guys? Why should you listen to us? What have we done before this podcast began, and what led to the launch of this show? And most importantly for listeners, what amazing stuff do we have planned as we head into our first full year of G2V? This is where all the answers can be found…and there’s even a contest for a FREE prize too!”

In a special holiday “Satellite” episode just in time for Christmas Day, the G2V’s own Scott Alan Woodard presents a dramatic reading of his story “All Snug in Their Beds” originally published in the 2007 DOCTOR WHO anthology published by Big Finish, SHORT TRIPS: THE GHOSTS OF CHRISTMAS!
Featuring music by Matt Jessop, Rat Soufflé, and Singing Bell.
From Scott: “Despite a few ropey impressions and accents, I think it came out rather well considering I did it all in one night (a bit like the antics of that portly, red suited gentleman). I hope you all enjoy it and thanks again for supporting The G2V Podcast!”
We’re gonna put a SPELL on you with a look at the astonishing antics ofAMERICAN HORROR STORY: COVEN! Scott and Arnold discuss the diabolical deeds of the first nine episodes, the heart- and head-stopping mid-season finale (SPOILER WARNING: the guys talk about everything up to and including that episode), and what might be in store for us as we reach the final four (only four, say it isn’t so!) episodes in January. If you’re a horror fan and you aren’t already following this series, you NEED to be watching this show!
ALSO: Scott and Arnold suggest some really last-minute holiday gift ideas!

In this special “Satellite” interview episode, The G2V Guys welcome Paul and Storm, the musical comedy duo that has taken the geek world by storm (ha, because one of them is…never mind…) and cast a Paul across the fan universe (because the other one…but that doesn’t even mean the right thing, so…forget it…)! Anyway, they’re awesome, they’re funny, they’ve opened for Jonathan (PORTAL, PORTAL 2, LEFT 4 DEAD 2) Coulton, they’ve worked with the likes of Wil Wheaton and Neil Gaiman, George R.R. Martin smashed their guitar (he had a reason, see below in the show links), Paul’s dogs only threaten to end the episode prematurely (but they MUST be obeyed), and they’re drumming up support via Kickstarter for their fifth album, BALL PIT!
In Part 2 of our celebration of DOCTOR WHO‘s 50th anniversary, we take a look at the big events of the weekend itself, from the airing of the special adventure “The Day of the Doctor” to AN ADVENTURE IN SPACE AND TIME, the Mark Gatiss-scripted drama that takes a nostalgic look back at the beginning of it all. Scott and Arnold discuss the celebration of a television institution, focus on the many “beautiful” touches that made it such an unbridled joy, and also provide some feedback on Big Finish’s own 50th anniversary special, “The Light at the End,” and the classic Doctor romp, “The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot!” Also, check the show links below for some of the many ways that Scott and Arnold seemed to take over the Internet on the 50th anniversary weekend!
SPECIAL NOTE: This episode features a remix of the DOCTOR WHO theme by “Gwylock1″!

Believe it or not, Scott and Arnold survived the zombie attacks featured in our previous episode…but just barely! This time around, our celebration of the 50th anniversary ofDOCTOR WHO begins with a look at fandom – how it not only supported the series during those dark “wilderness” years but how it also helped bring your G2V hosts together and allowed them both to contribute professionally to the universe of our favorite TV series! We focus on the fun, the fantasy, and the fandom with a look at our hero – the Doctor – on screen, in print, and on audio!
In our final Halloween-themed installment for 2013, The G2V Podcast welcomes a special guest – an internationally recognized zombie expert that co-authored ZOMBIEMANIA: 80 MOVIES TO DIE FOR (with a revised edition titled ZOMBIEMANIA RISES: 100 MOVIES TO DIE FOR on the way, cataloguing about 1,000 films!), teaches a course at theUniversity of Baltimore called “Zombies in Popular Media,” contributed to volumes like TRIUMPH OF THE WALKING DEAD, BRAAAIIINNNSSS!: FROM ACADEMICS TO ZOMBIES, and THE UNDEAD AND THEOLOGY, and lectures on “Zombies: Monsters with Meaning” at symposia, conventions, and festivals. Who is it? None other than G2V co-host Arnold T. Blumberg!
Scott and Arnold look back at the history of zombies in pop culture, where they started, where they shambled (and occasionally ran) in the years that followed until they infected every medium and genre, and what this whole undying zombie craze might actually mean.
We also have a special contest this episode! Midnight Syndicate has graciously provided us with a copy of their phenomenal new album that pays tribute to the Universal and Hammer legacy, Monsters of Legend! We’re giving a copy away to the listener who can answer the following trivia question (also presented in the episode). E-mail, post on our Facebook page or in the comments below, send your answer through the post-apocalyptic wilderness, and if you get it right, the CD will be yours!
This movie was the first to introduce the idea that zombies specifically want to eat brains: A) Night of the Living Dead B) Dawn of the Dead C) Nightmare City D) The Return of the Living Dead E) Re-Animator
Good luck!
NOTE: This episode was uploaded by an unknown party that discovered the file on a server after being unable to contact either Scott or Arnold. Listeners should be warned that some of what they may hear might be considered…alarming…
We are honored to have the first exclusive interview with Toby Froud (LABYRINTH, Stripey Pajama Productions) all about his exciting new project, LESSONS LEARNED, a Kickstarter-funded practical puppet production! Go behind the scenes as the G2V Guys find out the genesis of this tale, some details on the construction of the characters, sets, and props, the many helping hands contributing to the creation of an all-new world of fantasy and adventure, and how this will continue the fine “Froudian” tradition!
His influence has wound its way tentacle-like into every nook and cranny of pop culture. In a vast and mysterious ocean of entertainment, his stories have inspired and influenced entire waves of film, television, comics, games, and so much more. This way may lead to madness, but Scott and Arnold devote this installment of their month-long Halloween exploration by diving deep into the legacy of the one, the only H.P. Lovecraft! And to do it right, Arnold travelled all the way from Baltimore MD to Portland OR, just in time to join Scott for a Lovecraft film festival featuring a 35mm print of Re-Animator!
We also have a special contest this episode! Midnight Syndicate has graciously provided us with a copy of one of their albums, The 13th Hour, which we’re giving away to the listener who can answer the following trivia question (also presented in the episode). E-mail, post on our Facebook page, beam your answer into our addled minds, and if you get it right, the CD will be yours!

And stay tuned for the next episode, when we’ll be featuring another Midnight Syndicate album giveaway!
…but be warned, The G2V Podcast can not be held responsible if listening to this episode alters your physical form or renders you utterly insane!
In their second weekly episode in October to celebrate Halloween, Scott and Arnold take a fond look back at one of the greatest sustained periods of horror movie magic with a chat about the Universal Studios horror movies of the 1920s-1940s and the many monsters that populated their memorable pantheon.
To help them out, the guys welcome author Steven Warren Hill of the two-volume guide to classic horror cinema from 1920-1951, Silver Scream!
Steven Warren Hill, author of SILVER SCREAM
SPECIAL NOTE: We’d like to thank well-known Halloween music and gothic horror fantasy soundtrack composers and performers, Midnight Syndicate, for allowing us to incorporate music from their phenomenal new album that also pays tribute to the Universal legacy,Monsters of Legend.
We also want to draw your attention to the group’s new Kickstarter campaign to enable them to perform live; it has a goal of at least $40,000 by Sunday, November 10, 11:30pm EST. Check out the details here or via the banner link on the right on our site. Thanks again, guys!
TECHNICAL NOTE: We continue to work out the technical kinks, but this one is odd. This was our first three-way (please, don’t) conversation (recorded prior to our interview with Stephen Graves in the preceding “Satellite” episode), but not entirely for that reason, Scott’s audio fell about a second behind Arnold’s and Steve’s. This results in a weird recurring delay in which it seems that Arnold and Steve are stepping on Scott’s comments or leaving him as the last to react to something in the conversation, resulting in creepy delayed laughter from Scott. Trust us – the guys aren’t being rude to him, neither is Scott demonically possessed. Although we do think “Scott’s Laugh” may become a new CreepyPasta worthy of the SCP Foundation:
SCP-3370: Scott’s Laugh
ITEM #: SCP-3370 – SCOTT’S LAUGH
OBJECT CLASS: KETER
SPECIAL CONTAINMENT PROCEDURES: Since this is a sound – possibly independent of any actual recording technology or physical media – containment is a difficult if not impossible task, with the most effort concentrated instead on raising awareness and exercising extreme caution.
DESCRIPTION: This is the ghostly delayed laughter of G2V Podcast producer and co-host Scott Alan Woodard, who slipped out of phase one day and kept laughing out of sync with reality. Sometimes people say they can hear his laugh – always delayed by an awkward amount of time – on YouTube videos, their own iPhones, and even old CDs. Some even report continuing to hear the laugh long after they’ve shut off any recording or device, as if the sound has infected them or taken up residence inside their auditory canal. Others wake in the middle of the night to utter silence, but if they wait a moment…
“HAHAHAHAHA!”
In all documented cases, the laugh causes dementia and eventually death.
Most DOCTOR WHO fans know the tragic story of the “missing episodes” – individual installments and occasionally entire stories from the early days of the show, wiped or junked by the BBC sometimes only shortly after they were aired, never to be seen again. Most of the losses centered around the First Doctor (William Hartnell) and Second Doctor (Patrick Troughton) eras, but as the decades have passed there have been a number of surprising and very welcome recoveries. Missing episodes have been found and returned to the BBC from all over the globe, and as of 2013 there were 106 episodes still missing…until now.
This October – and appropriately enough in the show’s 50th anniversary year – the largest haul of recovered episodes in the last 25 years or more has been announced: nine episodes that restore one Second Doctor story and nearly complete another.
Now available on iTunes as digital downloads (find the link below) and soon to appear on DVD at the end of this year and the beginning of 2014, the six-episode Second Doctor story “The Enemy of the World” is complete for the first time since its airing in 1967-1968, and the subsequent tale “The Web of Fear” is now lacking only its third episode. Both stories are treasures beyond imagining for fans to either revisit or see for the very first time.
Scott and Arnold are two of those fans, and they’re joined in this very special “Satellite” episode by Stephen Graves, online deputy editor of Stuff.tv and co-host of The Naked Scarf podcast. Stephen was fortunate enough to attend the BBC’s press conference on Thursday, October 10, 2013 that announced the recovery of the episodes and gave those in attendance the chance to watch two of them alongside stars Frazer Hines and Deborah Watling, who appear as the Doctor’s companions Jamie and Victoria in both adventures.
Join the guys as they celebrate the “new” episodes and speculate on what the future may hold for the ongoing “missing episode” hunt!
Scott and Arnold kick off a month-long tribute to the greatest holiday of them all – Halloween – with a tribute to a film maker whose name is synonymous with that festival: John Carpenter! The guys have selected five films to discuss in this feature-length episode – HALLOWEEN, THE FOG,THE THING, PRINCE OF DARKNESS, IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS – three of which comprise the director’s self-titled “Apocalypse Trilogy.” Join us as we start a month of horror and mayhem with a Master of the Macabre, the Prince of Darkness himself!
