"Little Orphan Airplane"
Synopsis: Steve travels into a war torn African country to retrieve spy film. But he discovers that he is bringing back more as the pilot who took the pictures is alive and being kept safe by two missionary nuns.
John is joined by artist and longtime fan Jerry Lange and Geek Radio Daily's Billy Flynn to discuss this fifth episode of the series. They discuss the great dialogue used in this episode, the enthusiasm in Greg Morris' performance, and how this should have been the pilot episode for the show. Plus, Jerry shares his Discovision disks and explains how this was the only home video release of either show for some time in the 80s and we play a Guest Starring themed game of This or That.
It's the return of the podcast as a Facebook Live show. Join us Friday nights at 9:30EST as we discuss an episode of THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN's first season with two fans as well as featuring commentary from our viewers. This audio will be available shortly after in the OSI Files feed.

"BAD BET ON A 459 -- SILENT" AIRED: FEBRUARY 10, 1967 The Hornet is shot when he stumbles on two crooked cops helping themselves to the leftovers from a robbery. How can he get medical help when every cop in the city is looking for him? Jim and John find this story fascinating as it puts the Hornet and Kato immediately into the action, gives Kato extra screen time, and features a scene that the recent Green Hornet movie would use as well. "My Crime is Your Crime" & "A Bird Out of Hand"Aired September 14, 1968 We take a look at the 1969 Filmation series that shows the influences of the 66 series on its film cells. In the first episode of the series, we discuss "My Crime is Your Crime" in which the Joker and Penguin team up to confound Batman by switching their M.O. in order to commit their crimes. Next is "A Bird Out of Hand" as the Penguin goes straight, but it's clearly a ruse. Joining John to discuss this episode, the voice actors, and memories of watching the Filmation series on New York television is Dan Greenfield, creator and author of the 13th Dimension website. Comment on the episode here or write thebatcavepodcast@gmail.com.
Dan Greenfield is the editor and co-creator of 13thDimension.com, a website devoted primarily to comics and pop culture, past and present. To him, the basic food groups are Batman, Planet of the Apes, Star Trek (the Original Series), James Bond, the Beatles and the Stones. But if he had to he'd be able to subsist on Batman alone. Channel 11 in New York was his favorite syndicated channel as a kid -- you can guess why -- followed closely by Channel 5. Channel 9 didn't really enter into it unless he was home sick and there wasn't much else on. He's married to his remarkably patient wife Wendy and his best sidekick is his son, Sam. They have two cats,Lex and Zod.

Orson Welles revived the character of Harry Lime (who dies at the end of the film “The Third Man”) in the radio series “The Lives of Harry Lime.” In the radio show, Harry is a ne’er do well con man, as opposed to a cold-blooded killer. In tonight’s episode, he’s conning some young lovelies with a fake painting. Then, Lucille Ball stars as Liz Cooper, the proto-Lucy Ricardo, on “My Favorite Husband.” In classic Liz / Lucy style, a simple request to some neighbors balloons into a classic fiasco.

“Candy Matson” was one of the few solo female private eyes of radio’s Golden Age. Based in San Francisco, she may look like a pinup and have the most sultry voice on the airwaves, but she’s smart, tough, and fast-talking. In this episode a Hollywood movie company is filming near her apartment, and it’s not long before a corpse turns up. Then it’s time to visit “Duffy’s Tavern.” It may not be the place where everybody knows your name, but close enough. Manager / bartender Archie falls for a get-rich-quick scheme to patent electricity. It’s a little-known fact (so to speak) that Benjamin Franklin meant to, but accidentally patented the kite instead.

“The Romance of the Ranchos” was one of the more unusual series to be broadcast during the Golden Age of Radio. Each episode traced the history of a certain district of Southern California, from the Days of the Ranchos – when everything was still owned by Spain and Mexico in the 1700s – up to then-contemporary times, the 1940s. Tonight, the vignettes center on Newhall, Saugus, and Santa Clarita. Then, on “The Jack Benny Show,” the gang tells their own version of Old California, complete with rancho, Jack as a wealthy Mexican land-owner, and Don Wilson as 500 head of cattle.

In 1978, Superman The Movie opened in theaters. It starred Marlon Brando, Gene Hackman, and an unknown named Christopher Reeve. The tagline for the film was, "You will believe a man can fly." And we did as the movie broke the mold in terms of how superheroes were portrayed on the screen and became the benchmark for movies to come. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the release of the film and we've got a panel of fans to discuss it on the podcast. We'll take a look at how this movie set the stage for the modern superhero film and how it still holds up to this day. Plus, we'll discuss how the late Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder were the perfect Clark Kent/Superman and Lois Lane. We'll have a special tribute to Kidder in light of her recent passing. Joining John to discuss is The Quick and the Dad's Ken Holtzhouser, writer/editor/critic Glenn Greenberg, and Comic Book Central's Joe Stuber.
Our Panel
Joe Stuber is an an Emmy® award-winning producer and lifelong comic book fan who writes, hosts, and produces Comic Book Central. In his guise as Stuberman, Joe has created the world’s first podcast devoted exclusively to in-depth interviews with the legendary talents (actors, writers, producers, directors and more) who have brought comic book properties to life on TV, Broadway, film, video games, live events and beyond!
Joe’s love of comic books began with the superstars of Marvel and DC. Four color treasury-sized editions of Spidey, Superman, Hulk and Batman were all part of his expanding comic book collection…his favorite being the classic team-up, Superman Vs. The Amazing Spider-Man. But something special happened when those comic book adventures were brought to life on the small screen. The Spider-Man animated series and Adam West’s Batman were after-school syndicated staples in the Stuber household. And when the Richard Donner/Christopher Reeve classic film, Superman: The Movie hit the Act I Theater in downtown Johnstown, PA – the game changed forever. For the first time, a comic book truly came to life…and we all believed a man could fly.
Comic Book Central is a celebration of comic books coming to life. In the modern era of big-budget blockbusters with lifelike digital effects, comic book movies and TV shows are here to stay, and they’ve become a genre unto themselves.
Broadcasting from the Comic Book Central Lair, Stuberman welcomes superheroes (and super craftsmen and craftswomen) to spend some time talking about our favorite subject – comic book adaptations. Comic Book Central premiered November 8, 2013, has been heard in over 130 countries and has been called “the Inside the Actors Studio of Comic Books”. One listen and you’ll realize…you’ve just heard the world’s greatest podcast!
Glenn Greenberg is an award-winning editor/writer whose work has appeared in numerous books, comic books, Web sites, and lifestyle and news magazines, published by top companies such as Time Inc., Simon and Schuster, Scholastic Inc., Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Time Out New York, Lockwood Publications, and TwoMorrows Publishing.

"ACE IN THE HOLE"AIRED: FEBRUARY 3, 1967
The Hornet is trying to broker a deal between two rival gangs, but the arrival of Mike Axford nearly threatens the whole thing. A quick thinking Hornet makes it look like Axford's dead, when in reality he's holding him until the case is closed. But one of the gangsters discovers Oxford's alive and that the Hornet is double crossing them. If this sounds more like a comedy than a drama or adventure story, you might not be mistaken. John postulates to Jim that this could be The Green Hornet's attempt at humor that didn't go over very well. In addition, John and Jim talk about the different versions of Batman and The Green Hornet that we see over the course of their respective 1966-1967 seasons. Are they the same characters in each episode we see them in? Or are we looking in at alternate Earths? The Green Hornet: A History of Radio, Motion Pictures, Comics and Television by Martin Grams and Terry Salomonson is a reference work we're consulting as we move through the series. Pick up your copy by clicking on the link and getting it today.

We take a look at another William Dozier pilot for another comic related property. This time, it's Dick Tracy - He's a Good Cop. This time though, Dozier went all out with a full length half-hour episode featuring Victor Buono as the villain, Mr. Memory - which starts the batter of questions about where this show was going. In "The Plot to Kill NATO", Mr. Memory kidnaps three NATO ambassadors at the request of Major Powers. His method of operation seems interesting enough, but there is still something lacking in his character. And yet, despite this, the pilot is an enjoyable viewing experience with a lot of recommend including Jan Shulman as Liz and the well choreographed fight scenes.
John is joined by his The Hornet's Sting co-host, Jim Beard, to pitch these questions. Just how committed was Dozier to this property? What would a relationship with Chester Gould have been like had the show gone forward? Why wasn't one of the established villains used in the pilot? And why did Dozier still build in little nods to Batman and The Green Hornet when both shows were on their last legs? Any comments or questions on this episode, please post them here or by writing thebatcavepodcast@gmail.com.
A native of Toledo, Ohio, Jim Beard was introduced to comic books at an early age by his father, who passed on to him a love for the medium and the pulp characters who preceded it. After decades of reading, collecting and dissecting comics, Jim became a published writer when he sold a story to DC Comics in 2002. Since that time he's written official Star Wars and Ghostbusters comic stories and contributed articles and essays to several volumes of comic book history.
His prose work includes GOTHAM CITY 14 MILES, a book of essays on the 1966 Batman TV series; SGT. JANUS, SPIRIT-BREAKER, a collection of pulp ghost stories featuring an Edwardian occult detective; MONSTER EARTH, a giant monster anthology; and CAPTAIN ACTION: RIDDLE OF THE GLOWING MEN, the first pulp prose novel based on the classic 1960s action figure. Currently, Jim provides regular content for Marvel.com, the official Marvel Comics website, and is a regular columnist for Toledo Free Press.

Isis"No Drums,No Trumpets"November 15, 1975
Fred is upset that his science project failed to take first place at the science fair. After nearly getting himself killed in an auto accident, he, Andrea, and science fair winner Dorothy decide to explore a nearby ghost town. But the abandoned town is being used as a hideout for thieves. When Andrea loses the amulet, who will be able to save them? Before getting into this week's review, John and Richard discuss the fifth issue of the DC Comics 1970s The Mighty Isis comic run. It's the start of the radical change in direction for the series and Richard wonders if the change was what led to the cancellation of the series. Next, it's a look at the episode, "No Drums, No Trumpets". Among the topics discussed are the tropes of ghost towns on 70s television, how much Brian Cutler was convincing as a high school teacher, and what is it that actually activates her powers. It's all here and we want to hear from you on what you think of the episode. Write us as ShazamIsisPodcast@gmail.com. Moral: "Not everyone can be a winner. Learning from a loss is as important as the win itself. Learning from mistakes helps you grow as a person." In the late 80s, British fans of the television show DOCTOR WHO were dismayed to see their beloved series placed on an 18 month hiatus. There were many who felt the series needed it, especially after what was considered a disaster by many in the casting of Colin Baker in the title role. And then it was announced that actor Sylvester McCoy would be taking over the role. Like one of his predecessors, Tom Baker, McCoy didn't have much acting experience. His biggest claim to fame was his act of stuffing ferrets down his pants.

Netflix's reboot of the classic TV series has been launched with ten episodes that many say feels more like a long prequel to how the family Robinson becomes lost. Does it work? Did they get it right this time in light of the other attempts that never really got off the ground and became lost in their own right? Join us as we discuss what worked, what didn't work, and what are we looking forward to in a second season of the new Lost in Space. Joining John to discuss this are educator and longtime fan Rod Deluca and The Flopcast host Kevin Eldridge.

On this week's edition of The Weekly Podioplex, Solo takes the lead but his victory is troubled. Can a hurricane, a jackass, or a kick butt AI unseat the pilot who made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs?
On the home entertainment front, it's a short slate as we face Annihilation, love with Simon, Diff'rent Strokes, and a classic Midnight Cowboy. After that, it's a look at the future as the show gets ready for a refit in drydock. We're not going away, but we are changing... maybe into a beautiful butterfly.

On this week's edition of The Weekly Podioplex, Brolin and Marvel beat Brolin and Marvel as Deadpool 2 rose to the top. The victory may be short-lived, however, as the galaxy far, far away comes to battle the Merc with a Mouth with a smuggler and his mouth. Either way, fans win.

We present tonight a classic episode of “The Fred Allen Show.” First, Fred takes us on a walk down Allen’s Alley to meet the colorful characters who live there, then Frank Sinatra drops by songs and laughs. On this week's edition of The Weekly Podioplex, we survived the Infinity War... again. Are you still here, or are you dust? The box office saw a couple more records fall and is eagerly awaiting a few more to shake loose, but the Avengers have to contend with high education comedy as Melissa McCarthy goes back to school as the Life of the Party.
On the home entertainment front, things keep rolling as Phantom Thread, Batman Ninja, and Black Panther come home. TV eats its veggies as Bunnicula visits with a friend: Police Woman. Finally, we wrap things up with an ocean voyage and a new Marvel podcast from some good friends, as Denise takes a little break.

"Population: Zero" Synopsis: Steve investigates a small town that appears to have had its entire population killed. But when he discovers the real secret and the threat behind it, he must act fast to stop a full scale slaughter. John is joined by artist and longtime fan Jerry Lange and Geek Radio Daily's Billy Flynn to discuss the first episode of the weekly SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN series, "Population: Zero". They look at how as a pilot, it hits on just about all cylinders, the fantastic directorial job that Jeannot Szwarc does and the staggering debut numbers this show had for a Friday night mid-season premiere. Plus, both Billy and Jerry convince John that while an excellent episode, it may not really be one you should a newbie to interest them in the bionic universe and we play a game of Steve, Jaime, or Both. It's the return of the podcast as a Facebook Live show. Join us Friday nights at 9:30EST as we discuss an episode of THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN's first season with two fans as well as featuring commentary from our viewers.
Billy Flynn - The Wonderful Billy Flynn brings the funny each week on Geek Radio Daily! His daytime alter ego is mild-mannered (well, that part is a stretch) radio station personality at WLEE in Virginia. He actually gets paid to sit on his butt and run his mouth! His “edumacation” is from UNC-Wilmington, the Columbia School of Broadcasting, and University of Phoenix. When he is not gracing the podcasting airways with his comedic stylings, you can find Billy Flynn on Xbox Live (flynn71), rockin’ out on Guitar Hero or Rock Band, watching movies, reading comics, working out, or posting on the forums at geekradiodaily.com (ding!).
Jerry Lange - Based in Buffalo, New York. My personal and client works are created using traditional media including pencil, ink and watercolor and digital software Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign. I try to bring a dramatic visual narrative to my work through a mix of loose and tight media application and mark making technique. Website

In 1983, the NBC Network premiered the two-night event, V - the miniseries. In a time where science fiction television lacked a real substance, V addressed issues of division, trust, and loyalty. There were clear parallels to Nazi Germany during World War II. The miniseries was such a massive success, it resulted in a sequel (V: The Final Battle), a year long television series, comic books, novels, and merchandise. As the miniseries enters its 35th year, there is news that V is in development as a motion picture via Desilu Productions with V creator Kenneth Johnson at the helm.
John is joined by authors Jeremy Brown and Bobby Nash to discuss the cultural impact of the series, the potential for V as a television series rather than a movie, and the scary parallels of the concepts of V with the current political spectrum.
Jeremy K. Brown has authored several biographies for young readers, including books on Stevie Wonder and Ursula K. Le Guin. He has also contributed articles to numerous magazines and newspapers, including special issues for TV Guide and the Discovery Channel, and recently edited a collector’s issue on Pink Floyd for Newsweek. He worked for 10 years for WWE, serving as Deputy Editor of WWE Magazine and as a member of the company's television writing staff. Jeremy published his first novel, Calling Off Christmas, in 2011. This was followed by Ocean of Storms and Zero Limit. He lives in New York with his wife and sons.
An award-winning author, Bobby Nash writes novels, comic books, short stories, novellas, graphic novels, and the occasional screenplay for a variety of publishers, including: IDW Publishing, Sequential Pulp Comics, Dark Horse Comics, Moonstone Books, Airship 27 Productions, Pro Se Press, Raven’s Head Press, Stark Raving Press, Farragut Films, Dark Oak Press, Radio Archives, Avatar Press, and more.
Bobby is a member of the International Association of Media Tie-in Writers and International Thriller Writers.
He was named Best Author in the 2013 Pulp Ark Awards. Rick Ruby, a character co-created by Bobby and author Sean Taylor also snagged a Pulp Ark Award for Best New Pulp Character of 2013. Bobby has also been nominated for the 2014 New Pulp Awards and Pulp Factory Awards for his work. Bobby's novel, Alexandra Holzer's Ghost Gal: The Wild Hunt won a Paranormal Literary Award in the 2015 Paranormal Awards. The Bobby Nash penned episode of Starship Farragut "Conspiracy of Innocence" won the Silver Award in the 2015 DC Film Festival. Bobby's story in The Ruby Files Vol. 2 "Takedown" was named Best Short Story in the 2018 Pulp Factory Awards, one of five nominations for The Ruby Files Vol. 2 (created by Bobby Nash & Sean Taylor). On this week's edition of The Weekly Podioplex, we survived the Inifnity War. Did you? The box office was rattled as several records (and hearts) were broken. This week, remakes, comedies, and a Time Lord gone bad will do their best as two Marvel movies continue to dominate the top five.
On the home entertainment front, things are picking up as 12 Strong, Winchester, Peter Rabbit, Please Stand By, and another Tremors film make their debuts. TV and retro are still slow, but Denise brings a plethora of news items to close the show.

"CORPSE OF THE YEAR"AIRED: JANUARY 13 & 27, 1967A two-part story brings us a cast of characters and a murder mysterywhere the Hornet is the prime suspect. This story has a lot going for it, but it also has a number of clumsy elements including a duplicate Hornet and Black Beauty which appears to have no real purpose to the plot other than it looks cool. John and Jim are pretty much on the same page when it comes to this story and John is happy to see, albeit briefly, actress Angelique Pettyjohn. Take a listen and then let us know what you think of the episode by writing us here or at thebatcavepodcast@gmail.com.

Recorded on Facebook Live April 29, 2018 Forty years ago, the BBC premiered a new science fiction show by Terry Nation, the creator of the Daleks. Nation had quite the record of well received scripts to various television shows and had created and written the previous Survivors. But then along came Blake's 7. This dystopian drama dealt with a team of renegade outlaws who followed what many perceived to be a fanatical leader in Roj Blake. From the opening episode with its dark and disturbing ideas to the concluding episode that was supposed to be a cliffhanger for a new season to follow, fans loved watching the adventures of Blake, Avon, and the rest of the crew of the Liberator and Scorpio. In this look back, John offers a brief breakdown of the four seasons, choosing scenes from each season to highlight key moments as a means to make the argument that this show is in serious need of a reboot and return to television.

On this week's edition of The Weekly Podioplex, audiences escaped the Rampage and sought solace in A Quiet Place. The victory for the silent horror will be short-lived because this week marks the arrival of Thanos and Avengers: Infinity War. There's nothing else going on at the box office. Everyone else gave Marvel the floor. On the home entertainment front, it's still April and it's still slow. Paddington and Maze Runner make sequel premieres, and Bluetooth pioneer Hedy Lamarr makes a digital debut. I also share a story of culture shock with Grease in HD. Enjoy the journey, because it's showtime on the Weekly Podioplex, brought to you on The Chronic Rift Network. See you on the other side of Infinity.

On this week's edition of The Weekly Podioplex, audiences witnessed a Rampage. While we revel in the fact that this particular video game got a movie with The Rock, let us also consider that it has only one more week to earn back its budget before Marvel shuts that door forever. Also standing in Rampage's way are three new releases: I Feel Pretty, Super Troopers 2, and Traffik. Is fate on the side of the gorilla named George? On the home entertainment front, it's April, it's tax season, and it's slow. You get The Post (Meryl Streep being awesome), The Commuter (Liam Neeson punching a train... or something), and Winchester (the ghosts of firearms past). TV on DVD buoys things up with the return of MST3K, the next round of Killjoys (RIP Dark Matter), and Perfect Strangers. After that, Denise fights the slow news season with a couple of stellar reviews before bringing this edition to a close. They break it down looking at the few episodes Baker appeared in from the perspective of those involved in the production. In addition, John also briefly Brings to the Table - a look at one of the oddest complaints about the new Netflix Lost in Space series - the "rabid feminist" approach.
Julio Angel Ortiz is a writer in both print and electronic media. Julio has had an audio drama released for the original sci-fi series The Dome and short stories published in collections by Obverse Books featuring Iris Wildthyme and Señor 105. On this week's edition of The Weekly Podioplex, audiences found A Quiet Place, which is really what theaters should be. Seriously, Ted, no one wants to hear your new ringtone when the movie's playing, no matter how retro Nokia you went. Er, anyway... This week, monsters are still in vogue as we go on a Rampage, check in with Borg and McEnroe, and play Truth or Dare. On the home entertainment front, it's another slow week with The Greatest Showman, Phantom Thread, and Outlander among others. After that, Denise brings news of reboots and regenerations, as well as uplifiting tale of Black Panther in Saudi Arabia and empowering deaf actresses. Enjoy the journey, because it's showtime on the Weekly Podioplex, brought to you on The Chronic Rift Network.

First up, on “Fibber McGee and Molly,” two duo race around town trying to reclaim a very valuable coin accidentally spent on some cigars. The comic coincidences and tongue-twisters will leave your head spinning. Then we present, for the first time, an episode of “Boston Blackie.” Blackie is a righter of wrongs, a reformed safecracker and jewel thief. He first appeared in 1914, and his tough-but-clever style has taken him from magazines to films, television, and, of course, radio. This is a baseball-themed episode.

The Batcave Podcast: From the Files of the Batcomputer 29 - "Wonder Woman - Who's Afraid of Diana Prince?"
We move into the post-review era with the first in a series of episodes looking at the Batman related works of the producers and stars of the show and at the pop culture influences from the series. First up, a look at William Dozier's attempt at adapting another DC property - Wonder Woman. In this curious short, "Wonder Woman: Who's Afraid of Diana Prince?" we are only given a taste of the potential of the series. Which begs the question, why wasn't a full pilot produced, especially in light of the fact that a full script was commissioned, co-written by Batman scribe Stanley Ralph Ross? This question and possibly a few more will be asked by John and his guest, Chris Franklin of the Super Mates Podcast. Any comments or questions on this episode, please post them here or by writing thebatcavepodcast@gmail.com.
Chris Franklin is a mild-mannered graphic designer by day, but at night, he retreats to his secret headquarters festooned with action figures, and podcasts with his long-suffering wife Cindy on the Super Mates podcast, a proud part of The Fire and Water Podcast Network. Together they take a look at all things geeky, such as comics, TV, movies, and toys, from a couple’s perspective.

Isis"The Show Off"November 8, 1975Steve is a student who has a serious inferiority complex. He compensates by showing off, but his recklessness gets him into trouble very quickly.John and Richard have a lot to talk about in this episode. First, there's the excitement over Michael Gray's appearance on AMC's Comic Book Men this fall. Next, they look through the fourth issue of DC Comics' 1976 run of The Mighty Isis. It's the last issue before the series took an interesting turn. Finally, they review, "The Show Off," an episode of Isis that turns out to be two stories in one as the first story is abandoned early in the second act. Plus, there's admiration of Joanna Cameron's acting with Tut, Brian Cutler's fishing hat, and the use of more realistic gorilla costumes if you don't want to use a real gorilla in your story. It's all here and we want to hear from you on what you think of the episode. Write us as ShazamIsisPodcast@gmail.com. Moral: "Today Steve learned that showing off may bring attention to yourself, but it isn’t the way to gain respect. Respect is something that must be earned and the best way to start is to be honest with yourself. Trying to be something you’re not, only makes you look foolish and sometimes, it can be very dangerous." Guest Cast Harry Gold as Steve Elwood Meegan King as Roger Buck Harlan Ward as The Zookeeper

"Batman Vs. Two-Face" Released October 10, 2017
How is it possible to top the success of last year's The Return of the Caped Crusaders? You add William Shatner to the mix! Shatner takes on the role of Harvey Dent/Two-Face in this new feature length film and just as with the previous film, the producers bring us an interesting take on the classic villain. In this episode, we discuss Adam West's final performance, just how couched in the first season this film is, and our thoughts on the possibility of the series continuing without its lead actor. Joining John to breakdown this movie in a double-sized episode is Dan Greenfield of 13th Dimension, Billy Flynn of Geek Radio Daily, and Ben Bentley of the Batman 66 Message Board.

“Vic and Sade” is the driest of domestic comedies. We present two 15-minute visits to “the small house half-way up on the next block.” First, Sade may have at last found a place to store all of her husband’s fraternal lodge regalia that’s always cluttering up the house. Then, what did people do for entertainment at the height of the Depression? Rush’s pal Rotten makes performance art out of a collapsed porch. Finally, on “Escape,” we all escape to Kafiristan, via an adaptation of the Rudyard Kipling classic story, “The Man Who Would Be King.” Episodes Vic and Sade [1939] “Mr. Gumpox Offers Sade a Stall” June 13, 1939 “Porch Collapses, Rotten Takes the Blame” 2:37

Isis"How to Find a Friend"November 1, 1975Tom is a troubled student who tries to make friends, but fails. He comes up with the idea of really impressing a kid with a dirt bike he wants to ride by offering him an antique gun that belongs to his father. The problem is the firing mechanism of the gun is rusted and the weapon could go off in the user's hands. This is a packed episode even though it isn't action packed. First, Richard relates his attending Big Apple Comic Con in New York with Jackson Bostwick and how the two participated in a panel on the history of the use of the name, Captain Marvel. Next, John and Richard discuss the third issue of the 1976 DC Comics run of Isis. Finally, they discuss the episode itself. Richard likes it more than John, finding the time manipulation elements interesting, while John just finds it weird. It's all here and we want to hear from you on what you think of the episode. Write us as ShazamIsisPodcast@gmail.com. Moral: "In today's story, Tom learns that you cannot buy friendship. Real friends are those who like you for yourself, not because you are giving them presents. And Tom learned something else. He learned that a gun is not a toy. A lot of people are sorry, because they were hurt by a gun they thought wasn't loaded. So, play it safe. Don't play with a gun, then you'll never be sorry." "The Return of the Caped Crusaders"Released November 1, 2016
It's the movie 50 years in the making (well, in the waiting). Adam West, Burt Ward, and Julie Newmar return to the Batman 66 universe in an all-new animated movie. Joker, Penguin, Riddler, and Catwoman have reunited to take control of Gotham City and the world once again with the theft of a duplicator ray. But it wouldn't be Batman 66 if there wasn't more to the plot and there certainly is as Batman becomes more aggressive in his pursuit of the villainous quartet. What is happening and will good triumph over evil in the end? Joining John to breakdown this movie in a double-sized episode is Dan Greenfield of 13th Dimension, Billy Flynn of Geek Radio Daily, and Ben Bentley of the Batman 66 Message Board. Isis"Bigfoot"October 25, 1975Lee and Cindy claim to have seen Bigfoot while walking through the woods. Is it possible? Rick has a hard time believing it, but when the kids begin to panic and decide to hunt the beast down, Isis steps in and discovers the secret of Bigfoot (long before Steve Austin did). John is especially excited to tackle this episode considering his love for Bigfoot on The Six Million Dollar Man, but there are problems with it as John and Richard discuss. Plus, they also talk about how Isis managed to debunk supernatural tropes that were popular in the 70s, wonder how a man with shoes leaves a bare footprint, and discuss the second issue of the DC Comics The Mighty Isis Series, "The Creature from Dimension X" and "Lost and Found". It's all here and we want to hear from you on what you think of the episode. Write us as ShazamIsisPodcast@gmail.com. Moral: "There's a well-known proverb that says, "You can't judge a book by its cover." What that means is that you can't tell what something is like just by the way it looks. That's especially true of people. So whether they be tall or short, thin or fat, remember, the way a person acts, not how he looks, that is what counts." Guest Cast Scott Colomby as Lee Webster Neil J. Schwartz as Mickey Moses William Engesser as Bigfoot (Richard) & Albert Reed as Dr. Joshua Barnes

"MAY THE BEST MAN LOSE" AIRED: DECEMBER 23, 1966
District Attorney Scanlon is running for re-election and it looks like it's going to be a rough one as his life is threatened. The Hornet has to step in to investigate, but how does he do it without connecting himself to the DA? This is an interesting episode of the series as it addresses a number of questions, the least of which is why should one elect someone who has failed time and again to catch public enemy number one, The Green Hornet? Take a listen and then let us know what you think of the episode by writing us here or at thebatcavepodcast@gmail.com.

On this week's edition of The Weekly Podioplex, it's Wakanda forever as Black Panther continues to reign as champion. March is trying to roar in like a lion with Red Sparrow and Death Wish, but the panther powered with vibranium has a ton of momentum.
On the home entertainment front, things pick up a bit this week with Coco leading a strong slate including Murder on the Orient Express and The Shape of Water. Television slows down a little with the rebooted MacGyver, but our retro title is the iconic Lady and the Tramp. Finally, Denise gives us updates on Battlestar Galactica, a whole lotta Stephen King, and a bat-farewell to Whedon.
Enjoy the journey, because it's showtime on The Weekly Podioplex, brought to you on The Chronic Rift Network.

"Minerva, Mayhem and Millionaires"Aired March 14, 1968
Minerva has a plan to rob the richest men in Gotham City while using her spa as a front for her operations. It seems almost like a plausible story for the third season. In fact, John went into it dreading it and then found in watching it and then talking about it with guest host, longtime Batman 66 fan, Robert Long, that it wasn't all that bad. Robert goes so far as to point out that the episode has the beats of a condensed two-part second season story. They also discuss the relationship between Barbara Gordon/Batgirl and Alfred compared with his relationship with Batman and Robin. It may be the final review of the original series, but it's not the end of the podcast as John explains towards the end. Thank you so much for listening and thanks for your continuing comments here and to thebatcavepodcast@gmail.com.
Robert Long is a full time graphic designer and independent filmmaker. As a first generation Batman syndication kid, he manages the 1966-68 Batman Television Series Group on Facebook. It's all here, plus a little Bringing it to the Table for a new In Review for February 2018.
Contents:
6:10 - Mike addresses the concerns that there is too many Marvel movies to keep up with, a discussion that will continue well into the episode.

"FREEWAY TO DEATH"AIRED: DECEMBER 16, 1966The Hornet and Mike Axford teaming up? How is this possible? When Britt orders Mike to work with the Hornet in order to bring down a construction racket, Mike has his own ideas that could threaten his life. John and Jim are in agreement that this is a "Must Watch" episode, but they're not entirely sure why. Is it the appearance of Jeffrey Hunter? Is it the Black Beauty versus three bulldozers? Is it the Hornet Mortars? Is it the Hornet and Mike working together? Take a listen and maybe you can help them figure it out. Also, the two take a moment to talk about the late Van Williams and his legacy of The Green Hornet. Isis"Lucky"October 18, 1975Randy is getting ready to enter high school and he's looking forward to it, even though it means leaving his dog Lucky behind during the day. When Lucky drowns in the ocean during a beach party, Randy struggles with his loss. And when he questions Isis for not using her powers to revive Lucky, Isis must teach him a lesson on life and death. In the most heartwarming and heartbreaking episode of either series, John and Richard discuss the dealing with loss in one's life. Plus, they also look at the first issue of DC Comics' The Mighty Isis comic book and rave about Joanna Cameron's acting in light of her performance in this episode. In the end though, is this one of the best, if not the best episode of the series? John and Richard are of mixed thoughts about this. It's all here and we want to hear from you on what you think of the episode. Write us as ShazamIsisPodcast@gmail.com. Moral: "Losing something we love is never easy, but it's a part of growing up. "The Joker's Flying Saucer"Aired February 29, 1968 The final Joker episode for Batman 66 is not exactly a fan favorite, but there are things of merit in the episode that are worth discussing. There were missed opportunities in a story that went beyond even the insanity of Joker surfing by having Joker build an unidentified flying object to terrorize Gotham City. And who is Verdigris? Is being a Martian his shtick? Is he just a bomb expert? Or is he a bunko artist? Joining John to discuss what could have been a two-part story based on the high concept ideas expressed but never fully realized is writer/editor Jim Beard of Gotham City 14 Miles. Comment on the episode here or write thebatcavepodcast@gmail.com.

Dan is much too proud to ever ask help from anyone to the point where he risks his and his girlfriend's lives. But will he learn a lesson when he sees the World's Mightiest Mortal asking for help from the Champion of Truth and Justice?
Long before Hercules and Xena - long before Buffy and Angel - long before Steve Austin and Jaime Sommers, there was Captain Marvel and Isis. It's the first of several team-ups featuring the two stars of our iconic Saturday morning TV shows. The question is, is it all worth it? Is the story worthy of such a meeting? John and Richard discuss this as well as begin a series of reviews of the DC Comics Isis series from 1976-77. They start with Isis' first appearance in Shazam! #25. It's all here and we want to hear from you on what you think of the episode. Write us as ShazamIsisPodcast@gmail.com. On this week's edition of The Weekly Podioplex, the Death Cure outlasted the jungle, but it's not all sunshine and roses on this side of the maze. The final Maze Runner film is a bit of a disappointment, and that stumble leaves the field wide open for mystery thriller Winchester. Young adult adaptation vs spooky haunted house? Who's the winner here?
On the home entertainment front, we get the history of Wonder Woman and her creator, Professor Marston. We also get Boo! 2 from Madea and a Wonder on digital. TV on DVD kicks in a queen with Victoria and a classic with the Pink Panther (and Henry Mancini's iconic brass). Denise wraps it all up with the Quick Flicks, telling us tale of Space Mom Carrie Fisher's final award, Indy 5, Doctor Sleep, and Elon Musk's supposed zombie apocalypse.

It’s February, and that means Valentines Day – or at least couples. First up, it’s “Life With Luigi,” the adventures of a recent Italian immigrant in Chicago. Luigi has a date for Valentine’s Day, and nothing could possibly go wrong. Then on “Information Please,” there are two female guest panelists and lots of questions about couples: separated couples, couples in literature, broken courtships, and even the phrase "ladies and gentlemen" are all covered.

On this week's edition of The Weekly Podioplex, we have a turkey in the jungle as Jumanji scores top marks for a third week running. This week, running is the theme as the final installment of The Maze Runner takes the starting line. It's proven champion versus young adult adaptation for the title. On marks, get set...
Teen Titans GO! That's right, home entertainment brings the young heroes to DVD this week alongside Gotham by Gaslight, Jigsaw and Geostorm. After that dose of DC, Denise gives us plenty of news in the Quick Flicks, including word from the Inhumans, Black Widow, Wonder Woman, The Witcher, and the Clue remake.
The Clue remake!? Flames. Flames... on the side of our faces... heaving breaths...
It's showtime on the Weekly Podioplex, brought to you on The Chronic Rift Network.

On this week's edition of The Weekly Podioplex, the jungle is still strong, defeating four effective new releases in its fourth week. Hitwomen, anthropomorphic bears, Liam Neeson... not even the Washington Post could stop Jumanji. This week sees another shot with 12 Strong soldiers in Afghanistan, a Den of Thieves facing off against the LAPD, and a country star coming home. Can anything stop the jungle?
Home entertainment brings replicants to battle in Blade Runner 2049, a slasher Groundhog Day in Happy Death Day, something disastrous in Geostorm, Better Call Saul, and a few retro classics to boot. Denise wraps it up with a short news cycle -- we blame January! -- covering Artemis Fowl, Snowpiercer, and Black Widow.
We also say goodbye to a good man and friend.
It's showtime on the Weekly Podioplex, brought to you on The Chronic Rift Network.

It's the 25th anniversary of the premiere of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Five years ago, we covered the anniversary with a two-part discussion of the series with author David Mack and actress Chase Masterson. In celebration, John brings author Julio Angel Ortiz on board to talk about the show, in particular how it stands out amongst the other Trek series and how the new Discovery is closest in tone to DS9.

Happy New Year! On this week's edition of The Weekly Podioplex, we welcome 2018 with a new champion as the jungle overtook the Jedi. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle made big news for stars Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson, but it has hairy competition this week as Paddington returns to theaters alongside Liam Neeson on a train and Taraji P. Henson as a hitwoman. Home entertainment rings in the new year with killer clowns, Supreme Court justices, and a Scooby Doo-Batman team-up for the ages. Denise joins the party with word of Netflix sequels, Captain Marvel casting, Fox's tone in a post-Disney world, and The Animaniacs! Hello Nurse... maybe? Reboots are just about as tricky as the nations song. We also make a couple of changes to refresh the show as we arrive in 2018 and ready to rock. This is the Weekly Podioplex, brought to you on The Chronic Rift Network.

First up, on “Dragnet,” a movie set is the scene of a murder. Jack Webb’s Sergeant Friday hits the soundstage and talks with gaffers, best boys, and directors while investigating a murder that puts the tarnish on Tinseltown. Then on “You Bet Your Life,” Groucho interviews two doctors -- one for people and one for the birds. Later, there’s a woman who met her husband while selling underwear door-to-door and an engaged couple who work at the same department store. Episodes

The vid-cast is back and with a new twist for the new year. The show is being recorded live on Facebook via the Home Game Show Podcast page. If you're on Facebook, follow the page for when new episodes are going live.
In this episode, we're looking at Password. The game has run on and off television on all three networks since the early 1960's. And yet, it's got one of the most simple premises - guess the word via a series of one word clues. But the real secret to the success of Password is the celebrities who would come on to play.
John takes a brief look at the history of the series and shows off some of the home versions that are available, including Endless Games' Second Edition of the game that will be the focus of our gameplay next episode.
